Ca deficency?

my girls are one month old now from seed. They were showing brownish rust colored spots. a week ago i made a post i thought that maybe it was a ph problem. Most replies said start feeding them. Which i have done. they are continuing to grow at a normal rate but the fan leaves are still rusting. Looks like all the pics of CA def. But i thought that plants would not have that problem so young in veg. i have feed them ewc & mollasses and now given them roots organics grow 2-.25-1.5 I wish i could post a pic but i am computer illiterate.

maybe you didn't feed them enough..

maybe the leaf is to far gone, and it's not coming back..

picture's usually don't help, everyone grow is so different from ( media, humidity, temps, lighting, pot size, plant strain, nutes, pH, water used.... ) and coupled everything plays off everything, with one thing aggravating another / or one thing masking another.

one thing I do not understand is molasses, I just hope you understand all whats in it, not just cal/Mg..

my main advice, growing is trial and error, plants don't grow quick, and next time you pop seeds, feed them, lesson learned. There's alot to take in, so rest assure if you plant has one leaf and some root system, it can grow back out just fine..

for example, this is what I do to my plants.. on purpose. I actually think they respond better when there being completely abused.

most damaged leaves wont recover. You should be looking at new growth to see if the problems is gone.

seems to me it's not often the lack of a single mineral is the problem. there should be Ca in wot you've fed them. check the label.

see here to realise minerals don't work in isolation:

sorry, should read “... downloads/Hydroponics%20Program.pdf”.

(for some reason my browser writes this link incorrectly and I don't know how to correct this.)

cheers!

First of all, i'm not sure your problem is calcium deficiency. But if it is, it might have to do with the temperature and relative humidity of your grow room. Or Vapor Pressure Deficit. Check out this article: http://urbangardenmagazine.com/2010/07/plantworks-part-1-humidity-and-vapor-pressure-deficit/

The problem is that calcium is transported in the xylem and when transpiration is low you get a calcium deficiency. Check the link i posted and find the first table; the green zone provides the best environment for your plants.

So basically, check the temperature and relative humidity of your growroom. Are any of the values totally of?

What kind of soil mix are you using? If you have pH problems, this would be the source.

Stay frosty, we'll save those babies together. Hope this helps. :tiphat:

well i'm a cheap ass so i'll make a suggestion for you, if you think it's a calcium problem take two tums with calcium, grind them to a fine powder and mix them with a gallon of water. that should take care of any calcium problem you have. by the way i have used this myself so it does work.
