after stretch is done, i like to strip my plants to damn near pencils, just to have it all come back within 10 days...

makes a difference in weight and much less amount of shitty, leafy bud, that would be under the growing canopy....

I have no problems supercropping during flower so... to each his own (talking plant stress). Experiment, find what's good for you. Although I understand that can be difficult when a crop has so much value :) IMHO, people forget these are just plants... yeah sometimes it can seem daunting but that's really just information overload on us noobies.

Cheers!

When growing horizontally I'd tie my garden down in veg and then strip up to each cola's top flower site at the flip. I'd do another defoliating so to speak around 14 days.

With the right strain I've gotten massive trunks with this method.

Yeah DJX...WHAT ARE YOU YELLING ABOUT...??!!!

You can pull leaves off (large fans, etc.) at just about any point. Take a look at the sticky thread on defoliation. I have tried with and without...I take huge amounts of leaf material off throughout the run. As long as you are aware of the plants growth and needs and are selective you will be fine! Large fans can come off at almost any point with little if any detriment to growth, and some would say increased growth!

Check out that sticky..lot's of good info that should help you decide.

i prune old, weak, and large leaves off of my plants 2x during veg and 3x during flower.... never noticed any negative effects whatsoever. the plants seem to like being less shaded

I'm going to agree with most everyone here. Taking leaves off does not stress plants as much as some would have you believe. I do a defoliation in one week before flip to 12/12, one at 21 or so days into 12/12 (as soon as stretch is finished), and one at about 45 days into 12/12. I also remove any larfy stuff that has no potential. This combines with the constant lst work I do really help with yield in my box. I move and turn stems all the time to keep a more even area with plenty of budsites. Additionally, if at any time a leaf seems to be shading out a lower site that has potential, I will remove that leaf regardless of time period, or I will tuck it under.

Pruning leaves here and there no problem. Removing every fan leaf on the plant have fun with that.

I sometimes tuck a bud under a leaf, just bend the shading leaf down a little and "lock" the budsite in between the leaflets.

One of my old patients would pull handfuls of fan leaves off during the week, while I was not there. It didn't seem to stress the plants in any kind of outwardly fashion, but it was all rabbit bud after that.

I have heard arguments to never take any leaves off [just let them fall] to some of the opinions here, like stripping them down to the main colas. I would argue that with some actual results that stripping leaves off isn't necessarily a bad thing, but not necessarily a good thing either. Reduced food, reduced stomata's, reduced oxygen uptake [yes, plant leaves do take up oxygen after photosynthesis]. These are all things that could happen. Not to mention their effect on roots and other mechanisms. To write it off completely or to say it is the "shit" is pretty disingenious and I wonder how much data some have to make their claim.

Personally, I only strip a plant in veg and don't mess with it during flowering unless it needs drastic measures. I have seen many plants "male" themselves and other random weird shit after being worked over in flower, so my rule of thumb is to cut in veg and I top vigourously as well, so I am not afraid.
