I think thats an issue thats been swept under the carpet, although im an avid sports fan its pretty clear holding the games in this economic climate was a bad idea......tickets are rediculous prices if you can get them, it certainly wont be the peoples games it will be the rich peoples games

I'm interested to see what the opening ceremony is like; opening ceromonies are usually a big opera of the countries history.
Maybe we will see some celts peacfully hoeing their fields in the middle of the arena and suddenly some people dressed as Angles/Saxons will run into the arena and start massacaring them.
And then we will see people dressed as Romans run into the arena and start massacaring
both of them; and then the Romans will start building roads etc.
And then it will maybe shift forward to Englands colonial exploits, big ships will enter the arena and sail to a group of Indians (from India) over in the corner of the arena, and put them to work for the empire growing spices and cotton.

Should be fun.
Maybe they will have flypasts of Liberator bombers to mark WW2; but then maybe not, they don't want to embarrass the Germans in the audience; Don't mention the war!

Should be good; I think they will come up with something unique.

Well I guess there would be a very high demand; with England being so close to Europe, people could just jump on a train and travel there easily. It's not just the locals you have to compete with for tickets.
There must be something with tickets still available, something boring like synchronised swimming that no one much would want to watch.
When they had the olympics here I got to see the marathon, it went right past my house so I had a good view, amazing how fast they were running.

I would have been happier if this country had spent all that money on stuff we really need like hospitals & prisons for illegals . It`s the poor Londoners that have had to shell out for this . This country has gone to the dogs .
How long doe`s it last ? 4wk or so with the Parolympics so lets say 128 days then its all over , thats when i will be breathing a sigh of releif , seeing as all the telly will be stuffed & scedules shagged i hate to think what will happen if we win a medal .

well its closing in guys and girls, UK as already shot itself in the foot by not selecting Aaron Cook in the teakwondo, hes ranked 1 in the world and current double European champion, but opted out of the official training program and got his own team around him and hes won 15 of his last 13 comps, skulduggery in many other selections as well as already marred the games in the purists eye but still hope London can turn it on for the world

what a joke this is, in typical british civil service style, they are already 100% over budget. Try that at your own place of work, go overbudget by 4.2 billion quid and see if you keep your job.
