UC Boulder Crackdown on 4/20 Smokeout

Y

YosemiteSam

We are fixin to see who has the stronger will come 4/20. If everyone lights up what next...pepper spray...that seems to be popular amongst the neo nazis this yr.

The trick is to have enough people that they would have to call in the National Guard...would they? And if they would at what cost to their reputations...after all it is white middle class america that is lighting up in Boulder. It is their kids...not some marginalized group.

This is an opportunity...not a problem. Time to show these nazi fucks what we think. I will be there with an extra hunnie...and a fuckload of joints for anyone that needs one.

Anyone that actually values freedom in America needs to show up and light up. It is time to find out what is actually important to this country.

Let the revolution begin...we have been called out...are we pussies or are we stoners.

It is time to show the true will of this community. Too long we have been repressed. Too long we have been fucked with.

We have been called out...and at worst it would cost us a 100. Is that really going to stop us. If it does we deserve whatever those cocksuckers try to shove down our throats. It has cost other groups a lot more...and still they stood up. What better opportunity.

Rise up me brothers and sisters. Free yourselves from the shackles of the pharm industry.

They have done us a huge favor....lets not blow it.

About 40 years ago some of the students at Kent State were talking the same talk & walking the same walk & a few never made it home.
Be careful of what you wish for, you just might get it.
I'm not saying the time isn't comming when this government will need to be taken out of office by whatever means necessary but choose your time & place carefully. Don't spend your life like so much chump change, the way DC is spending our troops.

Vote them out/protest until they step down.

This is how they spend your tuition money... policing a hopeless cause.

Is a university even legally empowered to levy fines??

Oh yeah these fucks have petty power as stated by another poster.

20 years ago the University of California system was leveying fines of $50 for taking your dorm room screen off. They got tired of students thowing waterballons and other stuff, puking out of windows may have been a problem as well ;)

That being said were I a student there I would go and light up, making sure to have ZERO ID on my and ZERO cash. Fuck them, let them start arresting people. Oh YEAH, CO probably wouldn't ever try ANYONE for smoking in public. Let the fags deal with the fact that they don't have the ability to arrest or prosecute ANYONE, let alone EVERYONE!

If they shoot my friend Yosemite Sam, then we win. Cannabis can not be stopped with bullets, but if they start shooting up college campuses all support for the WAR ON DRUGS will evaporate.

Cannabis is their cash cow, they can't do anything that will prematurely end their tyranny.

They HAVE NOT found an effective ARMED response to cannabis, so now they are using their petty NEA flunkies to try and prop up their lies.

These little CO kids have been through the DARE shit every year of their lives, why should you expect CO public education to stop being the TOOL of the FEDS?

There is the reputation link and the petty players in this scene of the farce.

You have to understand that Bruce Benson, the president of CU is a corporatist and tea bagger with a conservative ditto head agenda. He recently was caught trying to secretly raise tuition while giving huge raises to key administrators. I have no doubt that the 420 gig is not in keeping with the corporate image that Rush Benson envisions for CU.

they already have shot up college campuses for pot in the last few years....check the news...shit is crazy...

Word from my friends from NORML @ CU is that there will be CU police, Boulder PD & Colorado State police in heavy numbers. Because of construction on Broadway, ways access to campus are pretty restricted, so they'll supposedly be monitoring all the comings-and-goings with relative ease.

I've heard a variety of rumors (some partially confirmed, some totally unconfirmed) about what agencies will be where for 4/20 weekend - don't let it spoil your holiday, but keep your eyes open & your wits about you.

As always, if you don't wanna face the possible riot squad, the Denver 4/20 rally on the lawn of the state capitol will be going on (and really, if you wanna protest by way of puffing, isn't that a more fitting place to do it than a random college campus?), and there are a whole slew of pretty sick events going on in proximity to that (we've got Barrington Levy, Reggie Watts & 20 others coming for the 420 Extravaganja festival at City Hall, Too Short's playing at Casselman's, Hitman Glass is doing their Chess Pieces release at Illuzion Glass, and I think Cypress Hill's even coming to town this year).

As I learned at Occupy Denver late last year, for some reason, the public doesn't have much sympathy for people who get clubbed and teargassed after the police have issued a formal order of dispersal. I don't know if that's what they have in mind for the field at CU, but when the school says "I wouldn't call it a crackdown", to me, that means "this is a crackdown with good public relations"

I wonder how many folks will be there lighting up who AREN'T CU students? Can't ticket a licensed MMJ patient for possesion on Campus? lighting up in public is not legally protected by CO MMJ law but...

Official word is that CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health & the Environment - who manages the MMJ registry) will be on hand and will run anyone caught puffing on the field through the system and revoke their red card on site...

I've heard similar shit that MMED (that's our Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division, for non-CO folks) will be at Cannabis Cup that weekend cracking down on patients "sharing" meds. (The High Times crew sort-of confirms this: MMED will definitely be there, whether they'll be cracking down or not, we'll see)

Basically, all the loopholes that have gone uncovered may get covered with some extra vigilance.

Most crazy enforcement rumor going around the industry: Department of Revenue will allegedly be visiting all bars/clubs in Denver looking for evidence of cannabis use and will revoke liquor licenses if any is found. Can't find any lawyers to confirm this one, and the venue we have rented for 4/20 hasn't mentioned anything, but considering that last 2 times I went to see live music in Denver, there were people ripping bongs and taking dabs (rigs, torches & all!) in the middle of 2-300 person rooms, I wouldn't be surprised if DOR was planning something like this.

Haven't read every post, so please pardon me if this was mentioned already-- however, last year or maybe the year before, the pricks took photos of attendees and posted the pix online, offering a $100. reward to anyone who could put a name to the face...

This letter went out to all CU students today (below) - the quick & dirty - place will be crawling with LEO who will be checking everyone on campus for student/faculty IDs and anyone who sets foot on the quad where the smokeout usually happens will be ticketed immediately. (DAYUM!)

Email all CU students just got:
TO: CU-Boulder Students
FROM: Deb Coffin, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
SENDER: Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
DATE: April 13, 2012
SUBJECT: 4/20 advisory on campus closure to visitors and non-affiliates
Dear CU student:
The University of Colorado Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano announced today that the University will be open to students, faculty and staff on April 20, but closed to non-affiliates and visitors due to the disruption caused by the 4/20 gathering.
On Friday, April 20, CU-Boulder's classes will continue as scheduled, but the following measures will be in place:
-- Students, faculty, staff and all CU-Boulder affiliates will need their BuffOne ID cards to get on, and around, the campus. Those not affiliated with CU-Boulder will not be permitted on campus and if found on campus will be subject to a ticket for trespassing.
-- Police will have checkpoints set up on all major campus entrances. Those with a valid CU parking permit may park on campus.
-- Norlin Quad lawn areas will be closed to all people. Anyone, regardless of campus affiliation, who enters these areas will face a ticket for trespassing. Closure signage will be clearly displayed in this area.
-- Visitors will not be allowed to park on campus. Attendants will check those traveling to campus for BuffOne IDs and parking permits.
-- CU-Boulder police and regional agencies, and The Colorado State Patrol will conduct enhanced patrols on U.S. 36, Colo. 93, the Diagonal Highway and other highways throughout the day, looking for drivers under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
-- Regent Drive will be closed to through traffic from approximately 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Only buses will be allowed to use Regent Drive. other drivers should plan alternate routes.
-- The Buff Bus and RTD Stampede, 209, and J routes will be impacted between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Please see http://www.colorado.edu/pts/news/index.html for details on how these routes will be altered and/or delayed.
-- CU-Boulder students are invited to attend the Wyclef Jean concert at the Coors Events Center. Students attending the concert must be inside by 4 p.m. Doors will be shut at that time. Attendees are free to leave whenever they would like, however, there are no return privileges. For more information, visit the Program Council website at http://www.programcouncil.com
-- More information about campus procedures will be posted at http://www.colorado.edu/april20

cause of course there will be far less disruption with their plan. Nothing says college experience like a bunch of armed thugs basically locking you down

If I was a freshman CU would be my choice just for 420. It's a great reputation.

Are students allowed to smoke cigarettes on campus?

I saw an article earlier saying they were going to spread fish emulsion all over the lawns so nobody would congregate there. What the fuck?
