EDF & Meters

They are going to have to do this..
Your mate should book a day and time with them and pull down the tents.. Needs to find somewhere he can put the plants and equiptment for a day or so..
Best to be as helpful as possible to the electric company..

It's not that big a deal, only takes ten mins, just make sure there is no incriminating evidence lying around.
Had mine changed 3 weeks ago, bloke fitted new meter and tested a couple of plugs downstairs and went on his merry way.
Whatever he does don't ignore it as they can apply for a warrant to forcibly enter the property and will bring some old bill with them

Wonder why they wanna change the meter, dont need that shit when you growing in your house, big time hassle........
I never see a meter man for years at my old place a long time ago, now comes regular where i am now,
seems like a normal type guy but when i goto flower i aint answering the door to no one

had my meter changed a few years ago when i was at work from analogue to digital

didnt even know till i looked at it to give my reading a few months later

so they didnt need access for me, wonder why they do sometimes

it would have been a right pain in the ass if they had, i had a 20 lighter going at the time in 2 rooms

maybe ring them first saying your going on holiday and ask if they can do it without entering the property

you could tell them you will switch the electric off at the consumer unit before you go on hols to help, they may say thats cool

then just do it the day of the fitting

thats not true

I think it is.....
I left a house vacant went away for a few months,,,
Came back and the meter had been changed to a key meter, (was inside the house)
I thought it was the estate agent who had let them in and blew my top as was never contacted, but there was no key with the meter so i called the card that was left,
The electric guy came by with a key and told me the gas and electric had been changed to key meter as a £800 bill had not been paid,
when i asked how in gods name they had got in the property as i could see no forceful means of entry he explained they had used a locksmith and there was also a copy of a court order which allowed them access to the property,
Learn a new thing everyday and i sure did learn then,
We had moved in to the house as it was a bankrupt repo so i guess the electric company didnt know,
Was a big shock to find out they can enter when you are not there, but they must give notice they will be entering, so you will have time to get your shit together
so i will have to say the remark IS TRUE from personal experiance i know it is..
good luck with it

i had the same thing happen to me matt. they basically want to change his meter to the new type which uses a key instead of a card. his electric won't be turned off if he doesn't get it done, its more likely he won't be able to top up his electric card at the shop as they will be changing to the new top up keys too. my letter said something along the lines of 'your electric service may be interupted if you do not get this done'. which sounds like they'll cut you off, but just means you won't be able to top up.
