Outdoor plans for 2012 - Kifthief

Hey everyone!

As I know the rest of you are I'm really excited to be starting my outdoor gardens this year and I figured I'd share the plan and see what you guys thought. I am planning two sites: one with 8 plants that is similar to the site that I used last year and one in a treetop with 2 plants.

At the ground site, I am going to have 5 Greenhouse Seeds Arjan's Haze #1's and 3 world of seeds star 47's, which have already broken ground and are in my stealth computer case growing strong enough to take to the site. They're in a soil mix that is about 75% fox farms ocean forest and 25% coco which is the same mixed they will be transplanted into. The holes are about 15 gallons each and have already been dug and filled with the mix and turned a few times and are ready for the little babies. I'm going to put up matte black chicken wire enclosures around each hole to protect them until theyre big enough and I'll spread slug-repellent around each hole too. For nutrients, I'm going to follow the K.I.S.S. method using only Maxibloom and then cool bloom the last couple weeks. I'm going to be travelling to this site with one partner who is a completely trusted life long friend.

I will be going to the tree site by my self, and there I plan on strapping two flat black 5 gallon buckets about 3/4 the way up the tree where there is a clearing for perfect lighting with a thick canopy coverage underneath. I'm going to plant one plant per bucket and I'm going to be growing a White Widow and Purple Haze. I'll be using the same soil mix and nutrients and I was going to just carry water up to them. I'm waiting a couple weeks to pop these seeds so the tree canopies have more time to grow leaves and fill in. I also doubt I'd have space in the cab for another single thing haha

I'll post pictures when I've got a little time hopefully in the next few days.

Happy start of the season!

Here are some pictures of the babies: The five are Arjans Haze #1 and the three are the Star 47 and just a quick picture of the happy little girls in their box.

Hey guys, little update, the seedlings are about a week old and are all looking pretty good and are well on their way to being ready to move outside. The five are the Arjans and the three are the Star 47s which are looking the best in my opinion

Wow nice plan; sounds like an expensive endeavor for outside medium to me. I'm along for the ride to see updates here. Cheers.

Thanks guys, and yeah ChaCha it was a little expensive but its great quality and easy to put in the ground. If I had more time/space I would have had a more cost-effective organic soil mix cookin away but unfortunately thats not an option where I am right now. The deed is already done tho so its out of mind already anyways :p I just cant wait to get the girls out there

Oh and just curious, what would you guys recommend for mulching? I've heard to use cedar but I just want to make sure

Wait I meant cypress ^ oops. The girls are looking even better, although there is one Arjan's that is a little behind the others but hopefully she'll catch up in time. I'm thinking/really hoping they might be ready to transplant to the plot next weekend and then I can get the tree seeds under way.

For acclimatizing would a windowsill with direct sunlight work well? Last year I was able to just take my seedlings outside for a few days before planting but unfortunately I don't have that option this season

This is what I do. Just make sure your window is super clean and south side facing. If it's dirty the amount of light that comes though is quarter'd at least.

Little update, I have been getting the little plants acclimatized to natural sunlight for the past few days and I'm thinking that I'm only a few days away from plating them outside. I think they're all looking pretty good, the little one has even started growing a lot more after the transplant to a bigger cup
