2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul is the first candidate among those vying for the GOP nomination to appear on the ballot in all 50 states, and the only candidate aside from moderate-establishment Mitt Romney to have any prospects for 50-state ballot access.

The 12-term Congressman from Texas filed to appear on the ballot in New Jersey on

Tuesday, March 27 th with double the required 1,000 signatures, which gave him the status of first candidate to have nationwide ballot access. Romney is expected to file in New Jersey in the coming days, making his 50-state ballot access likely.

Not all states require activity such as the need to file paperwork to appear on the ballot. In the case of some states, for example, the respective secretaries of state simply green-light ballot access for candidates. In the over 30 states that do require some form of filing activity, filing requirements range from formalities such as filing paperwork and paying a fee to appear on the ballot, to similar requirements plus a quota of signatures from those enrolled in the relevant political party, to stringent requirements as in the example of Virginia, which requires filing plus thousands of signatures to authenticate candidate support.

In Virginia, Paul and Romney were the only candidates that appeared on the ballot in the

Commonwealth’s primary held on March 6 th – Super Tuesday. Counterfeit conservative Rick Santorum failed to file at all in Virginia, and serial hypocrite Newt Gingrich filed but fell short of qualifying. Would-be candidate Rick Perry’s suit that the other candidates joined against the Commonwealth was struck down on appeal, and an injunction determining whether and when paper ballots were to be printed was lifted, making possible the Paul-Romney matchup. More recently, Santorum failed to file in the District of

Columbia, which is holding its primary on Tuesday, April 3 rd .

“Success in accessing ballots no matter a state’s requirements is a barometer for the strength of a campaign organization. Being first to appear on the ballot in all fifty states proves that Ron Paul is the only candidate with the organizational muscle, resources, and stamina to challenge Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Manager John Tate.

I discredited the Ron Paul campaign too soon. Despite the media blackouts he had over 5200 supporters in Madison, WI. Way more than Romney or Santorum, yet his name is still not relevant to the lame ass media outlets. Integrity and journalism do not go in the same sentence anymore. If the Trayvon Martin tragedy doesn't hit that point home, I don't know what does.

What other candidate shoots the crowd? Ron has my support!

paul has support from ages 18-35 which is good and will mean itll grow along with us.. but sucks cause its a SLOW progress... when the 35ers are 50 55 and his son will have the movement we might have a chance... but i think its all rigged anyways so who knows -=P

Army Officially Reprimands Soldier Who Spoke At Ron Paul Rally

Reserve Corporal Jesse Thorsen says punishment “absolutely worth it”

The uniformed solider who endorsed Ron Paul during a rally in Iowa in January has been officially reprimanded by the US Army.

After being cut short during a CNN interview on January 3, Reserve Corporal Jesse Thorsen, who has served two tours in Afghanistan and was due to head back for a third, was invited on to the stage by Paul himself to address Paul’s cheering supporters.

“If there’s any man out there that’s had a vision out there, it’s definitely [Ron Paul],” Thorsen said. “His foreign policy is by far, hands down better than any other candidate’s out there, and I’m sure you all know that. We don’t need to be picking fights overseas and I think everybody else knows that, too.”

Someone within the military infrastructure did not take kindly to Thorsen’s remarks, and a move was immediately set in motion to punish the 10-year veteran for his words.

Detractors began pointing to Department of Defense Directive 1344.10 which states that active duty troops wearing a uniform are expected to avoid activities that “imply official sponsorship, approval, or endorsement” of political figures.

As military news site Stars and Stripes reports, Army reserve officials said Thursday that Thorsen’s actions clearly violated Defense Department rules, and that a letter of reprimand has been placed in his personnel file.

Following the announcement, Thorsen appeared on the Veterans for Ron Paul online radio show to defend his actions.

“The Army works for Congress,” Thorsen said during the show. “If a Congressman invites you up on stage, doesn’t he have the right to do that?

“Why can’t a combat veteran go up on stage and support a presidential candidate in his best suit, which is his American uniform?” Thorsen added, also noting that he had fully cooperated with the Army’s investigation.

Thorsen added that he believed the reprimand was “absolutely worth it” because “it gave me the platform to spread the message of liberty and constitutional freedom to more people.”

Thorsen also claimed that higher ups in the Army had been looking to throw the book at him for his actions, and that he was relieved to receive only a reprimand.

“Let’s be frank – It basically says, ‘You’ve been a real bad soldier, don’t do that again.’… OK, I won’t.” Thorsen said.

The Army is clearing aiming to make an example out of Thorsen. One has to question whether the same punishment would have been handed out if he had been seen endorsing anyone other than Ron Paul.

Furthermore, over a thousand veterans, reservists and active duty soldiers, some in uniform, participated in a march on the White House for Ron Paul just one month later in February, where Thorsen also gave a speech.

An email leaked prior to the event by multiple active duty personnel revealed that the military issued a warning to troops encouraging them not to take part in the march.

Will the army reprimand thousands more soldiers? Unlikely, perhaps given that the event was roundly ignored by the mainstream media.

Not saying he was gonna, but he does seem frazzled lately, the whole "thats bullshit" thing, "blah people", and this. the campaign stress is starting to get to the guy who can't even get reelected in his state.
