Anybody use a humidor for curing/storing?

A friend of mine has offered me his humidor and I was wondering if anyone uses one to cure or store your stash.

I just never seem to get the cure right everytime and I'm thinking this might be a possible solution.

Also if there are any humidors that are better suited for this let me know.

Thanks

Not big enough for me. I would need 50 of them.. If you only have a few oz then sure...

So it could be used. Hopefully with good results.

I would have to have enough to last 10 weeks so I'll try it out and if it works i'll be on the lookout for a bigger humidor.

Most I have seen are for Cigars not big at all. I have not looked for an larger unit but Im sure it will not be cheap.. Good luck

Cigar shops sell all kinds of discs and vials that allegedly control humidity in sealed environments (I saw them in mail-order catalogs hat clog my mailbox, and wondered as to their utility for the green).

keep in mind that any quality Humidor will have a sponge that you wet to keep the humidity at a certain %. Im not sure this would be a good thing to cure cannabis. We want to use the moisture in the buds to keep the humidity stable. I dont think these are airtight.

Higher end tobacco shops have walk in humidors. RH controlled mini-rooms. :D I'm pretty sure that they vent when there's excess humidity, might be what you're looking for.

Then again... plenty of low-tech ways that have worked just fine (and cheaply) for decades now. :D

Things have changed and I'm going to build a small room 3' by 5' by 7' high.

Anyone want to take a crack and design one for me....at a reasonable price.

I was going to drywall it seal the cracks with silicone and put a 6' intake and exhaust and hook it up to something to control them that I can set...

THIS WAY i COULD DRY IT OUT FOR 2 WEEKS ..SLOW DRY....THEN STORE THEM IN JARS....srry bout the caps

Any help again is appreciated.

I guess something like this

CAP AIR-1 Temperature & humidity control
[199852]

$104.90

CAP AIR-1 Temperature and Humidity Controller
  • Controls temperature and humidity within your growing environment
  • Rated for 10 amps
  • Input voltage: 120 volts
  • Connect ventilation equipment to the outlet
  • Set desired temperature and humidity levels
  • Exhaust outlets are activated when levels are exceeded

Also What should I set the temp/humidity at for the fans to come at?
Also they can dry in here for 3 1/2 weeks then they have to go into jars...Sealed
I only do one trim session due to circumstances.
I would be using 3 advanced drying racks and then the rest on strings.

Drying must be done in the 50%-55% RH range for best results. CURING should be done at 60%-65% for best results. As long as these parameters are maintained, air-tightness is not a concern.

My home's basement area has served as my curing area for the past few years. Now that my husband is converting a good chunk of space for a home gym, I've lost my "tree" area, so now I will be needing a drying & curing barn or similar large scale, walk-in type of area. Jars...? I not only WON'T buy hundreds of jars, but won't store them, won't store in them, and can't imagine having to mess with several hundred jars--all of which are breakable.

I have been using plastic storage bins, food grade plastic, loosely covered so as to allow some air circulation, and this has been giving me the best results and easiest storage post-cure.

To the OP, if a humidor will be of sufficient size, then USE IT. However, you should know that the RH that's best for tobacco is too high for cannabis. To reiterate, for curing, you want to maintain RH in the range of 60%-65%.
