Aeroflow 60 & bluelab guardian initial readings

Greetings everybody. I FINALLY got my res. filled with water today! Between replacing my homes breaker panel, running a 100 amp service line to the grow room, putting the 8x8 secret jardin together, making a controller box, and collecting other misc. here and there, I am so tired and ready for this grow! I don't know how some of you guys do it!!!

Anyhow, will you please review and comment on these readings? The only think in the res. is tap water (de-chlorinated). Please let me know if you see anything that may concern you regarding these readings. Many thanks for your input.

Your tap water is garbage. Look into an RO unit. I use the Hydrologic Stealth 200, it works well.

EDIT: I should be more specific I suppose. By garbage, I mean I wouldn't even drink that stuff. 1.0 EC is about the highest I feed my girls at the height of flowering in my ebb-n-flow systems. Your water is already that hard.

Indeed my water is shit. Nobody here drinks it. It's even city water. I do have a R.O. unit installed in the kitchen but the damn thing only has a 3 gallon res.. It supposedly will make 50 gallons per day but I have no way of getting the water to go directly into my hydroponics res. Running 3 gallons back and forth is way too much lol. Do you or anybody else have any ideas on how I could get more water from this system? The PPM of this water is only 20! lol :tumbleweed:

How would I attach a larger water line to go directly into the res? In addition to having it on an auto shutoff?

I collect my water in a 50 gallon brute trashcan. Float valves allow you to collect RO water in some sort of larger container without the worry of flooding. Check them out at your local hydro store, they're maybe $10 and can be installed on just about any container you can drill into.

New readings after advice

New readings after advice

Do these look a bit better? There was still a little bit of that crap water in the AeroFlow res. but it's about 90% R.O. water now. These readings are only water with zero nutes. I'll be using G.H. flora series for those. Does this look okay thus far?

What in your honest opinion would be some ideal readings for this setup? I'm trying to cut down the "dial in" time so the plants don't suffer too much. Any advice is well taken. Thanks again.

My 'ideal' is zero EC because that gives me all the control. Ideal for you would probably be anything under .15 EC assuming you're not really out of balance in regards to the mineral makeup of your water source.

the 90% throws me.
if you've got a filter, why would you use any tap water at all?

your pH is already pretty high, but your water temp is great

nice to hear you have a aeroflo.. I have a 18 site but haven't used it for pot yet.. so I'm looking for forward to pictures

have fun whatever you do, remember the fun is in the journey, not the end, because then you just have to re-plant again.. haha

I just spent the extra dough and got the evolution 1000 ro. It puts out 1000 gpd, or 40 gallons and hour. If you have already spent the time and money putting 100 amp service, might as well get a decent RO unit.

I holeheartedly agree with you on this point. I got a 50 GPD unit for now but a larger one will def. be the next item to buy. Being new to this type of setup, I have learned a great deal indeed. One of the most important is the R.O. unit being installed closer to the res. and not under your kitchen sink lol. I will be running the outlet tubing from the R.O. to a 55 gallon water barrel with a float valve attached. This barrel will be located just outside the tent.:tiphat:

I'm guessing when filled with 100% RO your EC will be ideal. No need to worry about a mid-6 PH as your nutes will take it down.
Nice Bluelab by the way.

As soon as the clones go in, I'll be posting a new thread with the pictures as they grow and end weight. I'm hoping for about 4 lbs. with bc big bud but we will see lol :dance013:

There was a small amount left in the 40 Gallon panda res.

i use that same res for veg. you'll be wanting to shop vac that fucker dry every time you change nutes—especially if you're running sterile. the drain is too high to empty out and you wind up getting nasties in the grooves in the bottom. and there are no nasties in a recirculating system which are just in one place.

Check out the Bucket Head at Home Depot, it is about $20 and a 5 gallon bucket. Mine works great for getting all the water out of res after draining it.
