they have sent me too EVO pictures, but if you look closely you can tell what they are in my opinion knock off of the real EVO

in my opinion they are also a knock-off.

I sent an e-mail to the manufacturer of EVO in Spain to see what was up with that; who knows, maybe they had the chinese company make their lights, right?

but no, he tells me that one of the reasons they are ending production of the evo v3 is because they got knocked-off by the chinese, and hence now their v4 will be very hard to copy, as they will use some key parts only made in the U.S and it will be very hard to knock them off.

just when I thought we had found good led lamps at good prices, you start to see this crazy shit...

I'm gonna wait a little bit longer to make a decision on what to buy. see what happens with the prices with the new evo v4 when they come out. and see what happens with other lights as well.

peace

Why are you so sure they are using 'knock off' LED's....

a reputable guy on another board opened them up.. apparently most china ones (so most leds out there) claim cree they are not cree (hydroponics huts claims cree but actually cree has taken a legal action now)...... advanced claims cree and the same there.... sometimes they don't even know/bother, they just go with what the manufacture says?

Even bridgelux are not even bridgelux... what is mostly used, really, is:
Vollong LEDs, Helioptic and Ark lighting to name a few.

And anyway come one guys, do you really believe the chinese, they make everything, are gonna buy a overseas item tu put up in their panels? mhhhh....

Knock off is their speciality.... Prada shoes, they make exact replicas... and so on

Did he mention any release dates or anything? :(

nope, they just said to be patient.

I wrote them again on some other issues, and what seemed really strange is that I got a 'copy and paste' reply, exactly like the last one I had gotten...

funny...

and weird.

LED Reccomendation

LED Reccomendation

H Gang great info Here thanks.

Growing in a 3x3 tent with mixed spectrum 400w CMH and 400 HPS SOG
and SCROG in .8 Gal airpots. This set up (though challenging to cool) has been just killing it for me for the last 3 years.

Due to many circumstances I will not be moving forward with HID.

I either go LED and get what I get or do not grow at all. With that said
I am trying to find a recommendation for an LED that will get me somewhat close to the production Im used to.

I still plan on being in a 3x3 Tent and will do mostly SCROG. I will buy an LED light but I want to make sure I get one that really works.

For this set up what LED's should I consider?

Looking forward to some suggestions

If your budget will swing it, I would suggest (4) of the Lumigrow ES165's. You can spread them around to get very even coverage, adjust the spectrum and the power to whatever combination works the best for you, and they are bulletproof. I think this combination would work well up to a 4x4 tent, so you have the option of upgrading later. Lumigrow apparently will also cut deals well below list prices, particularly if you are purchasing several fixtures.

Thanks Rives

Thanks Rives

Had My eye on the Lumigrow. You think 4 or their 165's? I was looking at the es 330 and I am also looking at Prosource worldwide 2 Jumbo 180's

Thanks for your input

id go for an HGL 336X2 pro, that would kill it in 3x3 and has a square footprint.

yeah there was some controversy a while back about HGL, someone tried to rip them off (got money back from credit card company but didnt return the lights) so HGL reported them to the cops. quite a ruthless thing to do i guess but as someone who used to run a business myself i can see both sides. i was never ruthless enough and got ripped off on a number of occasions.
also HGL used to have a forum here and there were a lot of arguments that both sides were to blame for imo.
there are lots of good lights to choose from these days, that wasnt the case a couple of years ago.
good luck

I would check area51 panels and have a chat with the guys working there, nice people and they don't lie.. they tell you exactly what they use and more. Plus they have fair prices. Plus life time warranty. I mean it's not top of the notch diodes but in the end even the inflated prices companies don't really use them. Lumigrows are good I respect that company, but when you ask to people owing them, they say they are good but not stellar.. and why pay that more for something not stellar?

I would never go HGL ... super inflated prices that's a dirty joke. Would they take everything half price I consider them legit. They can't pretend those prices, no difference than made in China, no real good diodes employed just sufficient type chinese ones, Spectrum with that little green diode in the middle sounds funny.. greens are inefficient to date.. you get much more usable green from whites.

as for the green, they tested both white and green for the 3rd gen spectrum and the green performed much better.

No I have never used one. But from what I have seen they don't match their prices. Naaaaaa I don't believe in their testing, I believe in many others (included Kanna), people who don't test for selling anything but for the love of growing.. and with high efficiency whites (I am talking about diy) you accomplish all the green you need plus much more...

Because of the little selling point, greens are still behind other colors.. so with a white that has got efficiency x3 times more than the green, you cover the green and still give it a nice blast of other spectrum

but hey, I am happy you got your view on them I respect that. But I do have mine :)

i think one of the main problems with LED lights is people making sweeping judgements based on prejudice - about products they have never actually used.

HGL are the only brand of LED's ive ever used, thats why you will never see me passing comment on any other brand of lights because im not qualified to do so.

and yes knna is a cool guy.

green light actually causes the plant to stretch a little bit and i think that helps in LED grows because you get a bit more room for the buds to form and better yield

there is a led comparison on an other board, the ultimate led test, the guy has a HGL, A SPECTRA and a blackstar... I have been watching for months and nothing has impressed me (or anyone) from HGL compared to the others. What impresses me is the difference in price.

I received my eshine 126x3w light today. It is definitely throwing out a diff spectrum of colors than the Blackstar. It has a lot more blue in it. I put it in the tent. Guess we'll find out.

Waiting on my kill-a-watt to show up tomorrow. Overall, not 100% sure it is the same as the HGL 126x light. I am looking in the vents on the sides and it certainly doesn't look modular. I don't know if you can see the heatsinks from the sides inside the HGL light though.

EDIT: The overbearing blue was because I was looking in the tent for 20 mins. My eyes adjusted to the reds.
