Just "got into" Terence Mckenna where to start of his audio recordings?

The novelty doesnt have to be horrific though, it could just be some thing or event that changes the way we see or do everything.

I love Mckenna he has a way with words.

I understood that Novelty was that if today some dude discovers how to grow sinsemilla, then very soon, someone else will be making feminized seeds.

leaps of knowledge at very fast speed.

he theorized that in 2012, someone will invent time-travel, so time will cease to have meaning in a way, and so would the use of calendars, hence why the mayans "ended" their calendar at such a date.

many think we're on the brink of a technological advancement so great that it will be the spark that will set a paradigm shift that was brought about due to 'novelty'.

Yes, a paradigm shift is coming, imo. But when and how, who knows?

My own theory is this...

Since time is an illusion, everything we've experienced and shall experience has already happened...

We are merely reviewing everything at a leisurely pace...

And what we might soon achieve is the very creation of the Universe itself.

In other words, the "end of time" is the point at which we create this reality.

How?

Thanks to our vast technological prowess, we manage to create this reality in a machine. And at the moment of creation, the "Big Bang", we cycle back to the beginning again...and start over.

Just like this...

Is the Novelty the same as the singularity ? the singularity is where we reach the culmination point of human technological achievement and machines become the intellectual and emotional equivalent of Humans. I think most scientists think this will happen in 2026 not 2012 like Mckenna predicted. I think Terrence incredible ideas came from the I ching when he was tripping once I dont know the whole story but I think he said his predictions were in coded in that.

But yeah he was a brilliant man with a deep love of cannabis listen to the Audio where he wife tries to make him give it up. The way he describes it is quite funny.

Actually we DID experience the first biological warfare, right in the USA. Anthrax mailed to Senators and media. But nobody dared call it by its name, Biowarfare. Of the domestic type. And I don't for a minute believe the guy they blamed for it (who is now dead), did it. He was just the fall guy. It was all about scaring politicans and America into going to war. Only liberals were sent the anthrax... and it worked. Liberals voted for war. And nobody has been brought to justice for it.

Agreed. That was one of the sketchier moments in the US' recent history, for sure. Too bad most know nearly nothing about it.

no the first biological warfare was much less advanced

throwing dead cows over your castle walls or killing animals and letting them rot in your water supply

This complete version is one of his best talks ever. A real treat for both McKenn-ites and McKenn-noobs alike.

Some of the highlights are:

- The world is made of language
- Cultures are like operating systems
- One of his best descriptions of the DMT experience
- 2012 and the end of a cosmic cycle
- One of his best descriptions of the Datura experience
- How science is different then religion
- How the LD50 helps determine which drugs are safe

another video of terrence mkenna giving a lecture

Yup! That's the one I saw! Funny thing is I hadn't planned on seeing him. We had dinner at the Greens Vegetarian Restaurant (one of the best in the world), and when we left, I noticed a sign for the lecture in the next building in Ft. Mason. I freaked out, and crashed the lecture (which was half over)... lol! First time I'd ever crashed anything, but I wasn't gonna miss Terrence McKenna!

It was like a sign from the Gods of Psychedelia...

BTW, one his best productions is the Alien Dreamtime movie.

I've recently read Food of the Gods and have been very impressed with both his ideas and writing style. He is able to present many non-conventional ideas and makes a very strong case for each of them with numerous references and examples. I'd recommend using Wikepedia to research his references while reading the book.

When the rest of the domesticated primates catch up to him, we'll realize that he's in the same company as Leonardo, Albert and Thomas.

I always prefer reading to listening especially with him.

He had some profound insights... well worth the time to check it out if you haven't.
