What's new

Pack the bong, I've gone square hexagon

So I'm a little new to all of this, and asides from reading NF's HP Stadium thread I feel I haven't spent enough time researching vert to know wtf I am doing, , but I took a bunch of clones and got really high & built a vertical chamber for a 600. I only have one time to rock this thing before I'll be moving.

Not all of the plants in there now will be staying, I have a bunch of square pots that are very shallow, I think 6" tall by 10" wide, like 1.5 gallon maybe? I also have some planters that are a little smaller. I basically can fill both tiers. Not sure exactly how many I will flower, probably 50, some containers will have multiple plants. Veg for a week maybe a little longer depending on how they look. Plants will be rotated weekly. My original plan was to have a 3 tier system for use with 600's that was expandable from 1-light to infinite lights.

In a nutshell it's a giant box surrounded by a hexagon with a bare 600 in the middle, the hex is modular so it can be moved around, 3 pieces total, it gets sturdy once it's put together. The idea here is that it could be expandable horizontally for more bulbs, kinda like a figure eight that was open in the middle, if that makes any sense.

I still need to break it all down again and put a pond liner under there. Growing in Promix HP, feeding Jacks. This run will be 90% ecsd from clone, with a few cheezle for the other 20%.

Still much to do! I need to build a place to keep all those plants in the black pots, they are moms for outdoors.

Can you spell "water boy"...?

Because you'll be in the H2O carrying business on a daily basis with so many small pots.

Very nice and intriguing set up, kinda of a vertical sea of green.

Best luck my friend!

I'm really digging where this is going/coming from and am excited to see where it takes you. I really like the aesthetic of the box fan in a a box and the next tier being a hex. I definitely see applications/inspiration for my flower chambers.

Oh my god I would probably hang myself if I had to deal with so many plants in small containers for the entire show! It's so hard not to over/underwater them as you guys know! Once they are transplanted about 1/2 of them will be moved elsewhere, just need to finish constructing my new clone/veg chamber, which is about 60% done.

I made the bottom box a bit wide so that the pots I will be flowering in can follow the hex shape of the outer tier, ie some will be riding on the inside corners, the next ones will curve outwards and almost hang underneath the 2nd tier a little.

Just need these girls to show me a bit more roots & vigor & than it's off to the races! Having clear cups inside of the styrofoam cups KICKS ASS! I won't go back to just a regular cup, it's got a few advantages, it's especially nice when you have them all stuffed together you can take one out of the mix by leaving the outer cup in place- which prevents the other ones from experiencing the domino effect. Came in especially helpful when they were rooting in boxes.

Well I think I'm doing right, what do you guys think so far?

I am 2 days into flip, the top tier was transplanted in the wee morning hours of day 2, the rest the day before. I think my timing/plant size is good and I vegged them the proper amount of time, but I don't know, only one way to find out now! Around 35 plants on the top tier & 22 on the bottom. 80% is ecsd, 15% cheezle, and 5% nevilles haze..... obviously I will have to find a new home for the nevilles in 70 days, lol.

In the next day or so I'll be wrapping a roll of reflectix around the outside.

What I already realized I should have done differently-
Strain- I took most of my cuttings of ecsd, this run should have been chem-d, oh well next run will.

Clones- there is some runts in there, mainly in the trays, I should have anticipated not all clones doing good & had slightly less plants with longer veg, or more clones to choose from. Also, if you notice there is 4 smaller square pots with 1 plant/per, the whole thing should be filled with those with 1/plant per pot OR the larger squares with 1 plant/per & longer veg, but I guess this run will help me figure that out.

Day 2-

Question: I will rotate the plants every day or every other day, flip them 180* just like northern farmer does (weekly iirc). But what should I do for trimming? I was thinking of waiting 2 weeks & seeing where I'm at and whether I will need to lollipop or trim up sides. This sound proper guys?

Nice simple design mate, You need to put something up around it to hold some orca film or reflective to keep the light bouncing back onto the plants. Looking good so far, I'd wait to see what stretches and how much, the Nevs is obviously going to go mad, lol... ECSD also likes a good stretch from what I see.

What cheezle are you growing? I mean from which breeder?

I like your setup. Doughnuts rock. You should probably get that ballast off the floor though. 1 spill and lights out!

Hard to tell in the pics but the ballast is actually sitting atop a cinder block, all the plants are about waist height which was done intentionally & boy am I loving not bending over!!

For my 420th post I present you this:

As for which breeder the cheezle is from, I was gifted a bunch of stuff and most of it is clone only I believe, so if I had to guess it's the original. I am, after all, a Mass boy ;)

Good shit bruh, I didn't read properly befoere and note you already planned to get some reflectix around the perimeter, looks a lot better for some reason lol :D I asked about the cheezle as there are 2 breeders I have heard of with strain called 'chiesel' (Sour D x UK cheese) and I seen u were in the US was thinking a clone snuck it's way over there but maybe a different strain (same genetics by the sound of it).

Anyways, looking good I count circa 48 clones in that donunt bro... Should yield nicely from that... at least a gpw with thise strains as the sour and nev will stretch for the heavens! If that cheezle has any Sour D in it it will also have some stretch too. I'm seeing at least 600g's (12.5g per plant) all goin well.

Cool and clean idea LB. Looking good. VERY curious to see how this goes. BIG fan of the single light chillin in the middle. Best of luck :smokey:

The cheezle is exodus' uk cut x rez's sd(ibl)

The idea when I built this was that it could be modular & done in a figure 8 pattern with the lights running down the middle with tall diamond shaped curved reflectors that run from the floor to ceiling. And a 3rd tier, that part might be tricky.

This is what I came up with-

My top row appears alot shorter than my bottom row, some of it is because different strains up there (Cheezle & Chem-4) but even the sours that are equal are shorter on the top row. hummmm.

Looking good LB. Top row is always shorter IME. Anyways, your gonna have a fun time trimming all that, I just cut my biggest pull yet so far, and the past two days of trimming has been killed my back! Keep it green homey.
