Why did you guys go to bare vertical lighting?

Who sells a Pre-made socket assembly that can be used in a Lumatek or Nextgen ballast? If they shit or are in Canada all the better. Any specific brands? Looking for one that can run a 600HPS no problem

I got a sunlight supply, pre-assembled, which is running 1k MH with Phantom ballast for 25$ in Colorado.

I run 8 plants around a 600. Veg them for about a month or untill they hit the 2 foot mark. Flip em and lower the bulb. I like to trim anything on the 'back' of the plant. No rotating. I tend to think that if you rotate the plants, they are going to put more energy into realigning themselves rather than putting energy into fat buds. Lower branches tend to produce WAY more when compared to horizontal lighting.

IS this the one you have? http://www.sunlightsupply.com/p-12461-power-cord-lamp-cord-with-socket.aspx
It seems like some people have more of a base on theirs than just a cord.

Would you say you get less main cola growth but more distributed growth?

No clue I guess...I think it's universal... I know it says works with all sunsystem setups.. but I feel like thats just a marketing gimmick.

The plug in from the light goes from the weird skinny slit followed by two prongs left to right.... which attaches to 3 round plug-in's that goes into the ballast's empty 3 empty round plug-in's.

I'm running phantom ballasts with this sunsystem cord.

im going bare bulb because i had a bare bulb horizontal setup with a cheapo reflector.. vert only makes sense and I'm loving it since I made the transition.. my plants have more space and it's easier to water and foliar, not to mention my light coverage is off the chain now..

thinking of adding another 600w and stacking them

Megas - I would have to agree with that statement. Way less larf, even without trimming, resulting in more uniform buds all around. I'm sure with more XP and a little bit of positive training you could fill the whole side of a plant right up. Here is my last run.

You're gonna have to lower your wattage to achieve your goal. ;) Who's getting a light meter this week? this guy! :yay:
Yeah Mega....it`s kinda like a catch 22 situation cuz the bigger the room even with adequate wattage per sq ft just won`t ever come close ta bustin the gpw`s cuz of too much room for lumens to be lost and get past the plants , gettin absorbed instead of reflected , and then there`s all the dead spots in big rooms..... and......

That`s why smaller dialed flip rooms are the best bet for kickin out more production cuz environment`s easier to deal with and control while all yer light`s bouncin all round the room and back at the plants continuously ftw........

Congrats on da Light meter Bro.......

Peace...DHF.....:ying:.....

We use bare bulbs because we enjoy burning our eyes out of our skulls.... And, oh yea, they produce higher yiels for the same energy used.....

Stupid question, but I somewhat remember a little issue with bare bulbs but I am a little "happy" right now.
I don't remember if it was MH or HPS, but I remember reading one type of bulb is designed for vertical or horizontal use. Using it in the wrong position would shorten its life.
One would need to look at the specs for the bulb to see if it was made for vert/horz/or any way use.
It may of been for older made bulbs, but I remember something about it.
Please confirm...

Megas - I use those sockets you linked to (http://www.sunlightsupply.com/p-1246...th-socket.aspx) They work fantastic, but any mogual socket designed for HID lighting will work. As far as the the ballast hook up they are designed for sunlight supply ballast connectors, which are available on all sunlight ballasts, duh, and also most digital ballasts have a model with sunlight supply connectors. If you have hydrofarm ballasts you can buy an adaptor that goes from hydrofarm to sunlight supply connectors for about 10 bucks.

I also use those sunlight sockets, they are perfect. like said above most places sell the adapters if you need them.

Some lamps are directional, some are universal. The buyer should be aware of what they're buying.
