seeds poped but not growing

hi all i got my first pack of ace seeds golden tiger last week i wasted no time germinating them. out of 12 seeds 4 are growing and shooting roots out the cell the rest have poped there seed shell off and the head is sticking out but there are no leaves or stalk or roots shooting out anywhere. is this normal ?

When you say, head is sticking out, are you referring to the cotyledon? As long as it is fully intact, the growth should happen eventually. Is the cotyledon green? How long have they been like this? I find some times that it takes a while for the cotyledon to generate enough energy to show much, but under the surface main tap root is slowly growing.

ill try and post up a pic. but yea i guess i mean the cotyledon they have been stalled that way for about 3 days now. and yes they are still green looking. i started them 2/16/12 just over a week now.

Patience should suffice in getting them going. I know some folks cull slow growers, but I think you may miss out if you do. Be forewarned that it could take another week or two.



These are two Purple Haze x Thai seedlings I started recently. Plant on the left was very slow to get out of the gate compared to plant on the right. Was at least 10 days behind, maybe 2 weeks or more.


Here they are today (back two; front is MOD). So you can see that she caught up with her sister pretty well.

I've had this happen with multiple strains from multiple breeders, so it is definitely not an Ace only phenomenon. I'd just chill, fire up a fatty and let them slowly develop. Just keep an eye out for signs of mold or any bugs...
