I just found the "tank beattle" version of root aphids in the run off water while flushing a plant. I had believed them to be gnats untill now. I have them in both veg and flowering cabs. Im 56 days into flowering with 63-70day strains. Is there anything to treat the flowering plants this late with? Im going to get bayer tree and shrub for the veg cab.

I have used spinosad as a spray and mighty wash as a root dunk with great success right before I put em into flower, also Azamax in the res.during veg but there isn't much I'd do with the girls finishing up. Cooler temps slows the breeding cycle down of the nasty bastards also. Stay persistent and you will win the battle.

Good luck, Peace

DO NOT use the Bayer! It will remain in the tissues and right now how long is rather up for debate.

Due to this issue with any imidacloprid product, and the fact that Bayer T&S did not work when I first tried it (before I knew anything about it remaining in tissues for a protracted period of time), I landed on Spectracide with Triazicide.

Right now you can try a couple of things, first one I would go with is to use Spectracide with Triazicide, mix it up at their strongest dosage (IIRC it's something like 30mls/gal) and FLOOD the pots.

If you need to put them into a tray of some sort then do it, because you must get the entire media completely and totally saturated. Let them soak for 2-5 hrs, minimum.

Spray the Spectracide all around the plants and your growing areas, making absolutely sure to get into the tiny hiding places they'll use.

Set up yellow sticky traps EVERYWHERE, they are your monitoring system and can't be replaced for it, IMO.

The other thing you can try, but I would try it only on those plants you can stand to lose if it doesn't work, is to dunk the roots (pot) in 120*F water for 5mins. I've posted a paper on this method using 125*F water, but reports are that this temperature kills even well-rooted cannabis. IIRC grapeman reported that this method isn't entirely effective on grape stocks, either, despite what was reported in the paper.

I found that Azamax/Azatrol, Spinosad, Mosquito Dunks, all essentially pissed them off to the point of population explosion.

Your flowering plants can be salvaged. Move as quickly as possible to treat them with the most bad-ass non-systemic pesticide you can find.

I know you dont want to hear this, but no matter what you do, your veg plants will NEVER be rid of the aphids. Those fuckers are simply the most resiliant pest I have dealt with... whoever started calling spider mites 'the borg' must have never had root aphids. RAs make mites look fun by comparison. IMO, you should get clean cuts or seeds and start over. It was a good decision for me.

Excellent suggestion!

Terrible suggestion! Haha.

Wait wait wait, so you wont use Imid but you will spray your entire garden with gamma-cyhalothrin? Man I cannot image working in a space that had been sprayed with that stuff. I used like 10 mL/gal, which I only applied to the roots, and my garden still smelled like a bottle of nail polish remover for a week. Disgusting.

Yea I agree these do nothing.

I never said I liked it, but it had to be done. I considered many products out there, everything from Liquid Sevin, to Merit75. I had already tried many other products to absolutely no avail. And I didn't just spray the entire garden (indoors), I sprayed the ENTIRE AREA.

By doing what I did, I was able to save most of my genetics. Most folks who do true battle with RAs don't seem to be as fortunate, most I've read are forced to scrap everything. Getting another season out of them was worth that.

If I hadn't hurt myself to the point of not being able to keep them going over this winter I'd still have everything right now.

I did battle with these bastards for over 6 months. Tried everything. Met 52, merit 75, bayer, specracide, bug bombs, and regimens of all of the above. They are the only pest I've ever gotten that I could not rid myself of. I'm literally scared shitless of root aphids.

I ended up moving to a new location, buying all new equipment, and starting over with clean genetics from friends. I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear, but it's what I had to do to put my garden in proper health again.

Root aphids = bugs from hell

Imid works. Used in veg or week 1 flowering, you are pretty far removed from using it, I can't comment for sure whether it is still in the finished product or not. Imidicloprid is the same stuff in Advantage, the stuff you put on your pets.

Recently I tried MET52, and so far my rooms are RA free. I prefer to use it over Imid until I see evidence that it doesn't work. So far, MET52 is working.
