Ortega grow

Here are some pics of the new Ortega's I popped a while back. I started them in coco to try and switch. They grew lanky for some reason and very slow. The roots looked good but the plant looked almost sativa they way the stretched. I put them in bigger pots using Fox Farms Ocean Forest and they exploded and bushed right out. I have some Critical Widow that did the same thing but didn't take off like the Ortega's once switched to soil. Again, the roots looked better than ever but the growth was bad in coco.

Out of 5 plants only 1 female. I took 4 clones of each plant and they rooted faster than anything I've had in 3 years. The last one that aggressive was Sour Diesel. These are very lush plants. I couldn't be happier so far. Potted the 4 female clones and 2 each of the males till I figure out which male to keep. The seed mothers went into flower room last night. I may try and collect the pollen and save it for later. Anyway, here are 2 pics I took with my phone.

The close up of the one plant is the female. She is the smallest but her clones seemed to be the most aggressive which I am glad of as I plan to run a room full of just her.

Looks good! I can't wait to be seeing that type of growth.

How come the female has so much stem growth before any leaves?

What seed company did you get these from?

All the best with your grow.

Thanks for the encouragement. Ortega, like chase said come from Mr. Nice Seed Bank and are a Northern Lights cross of #1 and #5. I grew some last summer but I hurt my back so they got neglected. So with being ignored except to water to keep it alive and stuck in a 1 gallon pot to veg and flower in it was awesome! Now that I am back up to par and am babying these guys. Proper pH between 5.8 and 6.2 after bio bizz has been added. PPM between 230 and 390 depending on if Cal-Mag was added. I usually use biobizz grow and bloom and alg-a-mic. I also use top max in flower as well and it works great. During the summer when I hurt my back I just watered out of the hose mostly. Once in a while would use R/O water no nutes hardly and it still was a KO product. I grow for my wife as she is the med card holder, I am the caregiver but I like to sample my work. Very heavy, I couldn't do anything but lay there. But I don't medicate so it hits me hard.

The seed mother and 4 fathers are in 3.5 gallon pots to bloom in. I started in coco and switched back to soil because I was new to coco and my babies were not branching out. Once in soil they stopped stagnating and started branching. I still have a few plants in coco to learn with so I can switch over but for now soil works well. They are in Fox Farm Ocean Forest. BTW, don't use Ocean Forest for seedlings. It is burning the crap out of mine. But the Ortega clones seem to love the hotter Ocean Forest for some reason.
I took 5 more clones last night. I am gunning for a room full next run.

Hey Max, I noticed you have NL#5/Haze in your signature. I grew that as well last summer and my wife said it was some of the best she has had. It also was neglected but had no problems with potency. I tried a little and it was way too heavy for me. Won't do that again.

I am pretty sure Shantibaba did the original too , on this I might be wrong , but im pretty sure that the original was sourced from Jim Ortega , & I belive its related to maple leaf indica.

Yes Nl5#haze is sometimes potent but electric would suit the definition better.
That s the best weed you can grow. Not joking just the best. Of course it s from my point of view

As for the ortega (from MRN) I ll have to soon start some of the seeds I have.

PS/ I ll remove the pics if needed. Just ask.

I love those leafs.

They are quite lush and green. I have been foliar feeding with H&G Magic Green. It works great and you don't have to use that much to get good results. I also use H&G roots excelurator and man what a difference it has made!

@ maxibiogreen- Don't remove the pics! I love'em! If you have anymore please feel free to post them up. That NL#5/Hz looks so resinous, way better than mine.
