sleep problems

I can't believe ppl are recommending pharmaceuticals but that just goes to show the power of advertising.

Avoid all pharma's and just take herbs like people have been doing for thousands of years. There are plenty to choose from, but the best I have found to counter insomnia are:

-------
Passionflower (passiflora incarnata)
Valerian root
--------

all of these herbs will help you sleep. My first recommendation would be to go with Passionflower. Brew a strong tea with any of these and lights out. With passionflower, not only is your sleep refreshing, but you are likely to experience good dreams. There is nothing wrong with combining valerian root with passionflower. It will produce a stronger sedative.

You can fight this sleep, but if you cooperate and really want to sleep, the herbs will be like your friend and gently guide you into Dreamland. It's all up to you. If you are plagued by worries then it may not work.

It is also important to avoid substances like sugar, caffeine, nicotine etc. not only at night, but also during the day. Don't go to bed hungry either, but nothing too sweet. Avoid stimulating TV shows too, they are as bad as caffeine. If it presses your buttons, it will keep you awake. Avoid arguments and people who like to start shit.

Exercise helps like a bomb though. Take a long walk and you'll enjoy the best sleep you ever had. If your body is exhausted, sleep will not be a problem, and you will not need any herbs either. You don't often hear about farmers that have trouble sleeping. Getting outdoors and soaking up sun helps a great deal too. There is something about sunlight on the skin that influences your circadian rhythm... and if you are black you need more sunlight than white people do. Black people are prone to vitamin D deficiency in winter months due to their resistance to UV rays. Also seasonal-affective disorder (SAD).

I feel your pain...I'm unable to fall asleep and even when I do max is 6 hours...average is 3.5...and the sleep isn't very good. This week has been real bad...I didn't even sleep Tuesday night and I only slept for 4 hours the next two nights.

Usually good bud helps me pass out but there hasn't been anything all that good around for a while...and what has come around have been strong sativas...not a trace of indica.

I quit worrying about it myself...it kinda sucks but I've gotten used to the little amount of sleep I get.

I have sleep issues too....My problem isn't staying asleep though, its just getting to it. My mind races like everyone elses and its crazy. I don't try to force stop it cuz that only will make it worse, I just try to realize that its happening and let myself slow down. I really think it just has to do with marijuana and an overly active mind. Melatonin hasn't really helped me, except when I finally fall asleep then I get really vivid dreams.

A suggestion I have is to try to break any routines you have before bed. Sometimes getting into these same routines can screw with your mind.

melatonin.

ive been thru the rounds here and there on sleep disorders.

melatonin works, and i usually chop 5mgs into 3rds and only take them like 2 times a week at most.

i used to wake up at 3am like clockwerk, but now even if i wake up i can get backto sleep.

i always get up at 430 or 5am ish.

melatonin isnt like a drug, but it will get u to sleep, and u can get it at any grocery or walmart.

5mgs is too much, thats why i cut the shit down.

Stay up the whole night. You will eventually have to sleep. Don't take a nap the next day. Go to sleep early 8,9,10 pm, wake up at 7am. There you go.

once yuour in a fuked up sleep pattern its hard to get out of it.

i worked on commercial fishing boats in alaska and we worked strange fukin hours, and nuthin that was regular.

the best thing i did to get back on it was to just stay up a cpl days (and yeah we worked 70+ hours str8 at times)....then sleep on a normal schedule, and get up on a normal schedule.

then dont drink caffeine at all after noon...which i still hold as a rule......and melatonin before bed a cpl times a week.

Sleeping is necessary for good and attractive health. Reading books and news paper is best for creating attractive health. That make busy to mind and reduce stress and strain.

When trouble sleeping, close your eyes and visualize making 99 to 50 with your mind (like a marker etc.) if you arent asleep by 50 you are not human, or just on crack

Hardcore insomniac here. It sucks. Nothing seems to work long term except hard physical labor, and even then I need weed, booze or drugs on occasion.

I would say just don't worry about anything... Stay up until your tired, and do what you like to do until your tired. Don't feel guilty!!!!!!!!!

After you start hitting a "common" time of falling to sleep... Try to start doing things to ware you out until your sleep time comes back to normal.

So if your falling asleep at 4 in the morning.... Just let it b. Every day try to do pushups or a little treadmill session to tire yourself more and more until your going to sleep at 9-10pm again..

Never stress over anything, it just makes your healthy decline even more.
