The Mites are taking over!

Spider mites are F'n EASY!!! Neem 2-3 times a week for 3 weeks will knock down even a heavy infestation like HighCountry's. Tho in that case manual removal of most critters and webs by wiping leaves with a damp sponge would be my first move.

Once the mites are gone, a weekly spray of Neem will keep em from getting a foot hold anywhere in your room for the rest of the plants lives.

Seriously, I brought in some new cuttings from a buddy's grow, he used azamax to control them. Once they were rooted I moved em into my vege area, a week later I noticed that the new plants were getting ripped! Found about 2-300 of the fucks on them, NONE on any of my other girls who had been previously treated with Neem. I simply continued my weekly sprays on the whole room, and doubled down on the infested cuts. 2 weeks, no bugs!

@Uktena; If you've got bugs in your soil, they're NOT spidermites. Pine named one of the likely culprits, Root Aphids, they're a PITA to kill off.

But it could be other bugs too, so make sure you get a proper look at them before you jump the gun with heavy duty poisons to try and kill a bug you don't have.

Spring tail, I've noticed these guy's in my soil, they feed on decaying plant matter and wood. In small numbers they're beneficial, if the population explodes it's probably due to root rot from over watering.

Predatory mites, Again, I've got these guy's in my soil. They feed on other crawlers and control population, more springtails I see, the more of these guy's I see.

shot with both of em,

Hi guys and or gals, yep it's probably root aphids or predatory mites. They look a heck of a lot like that predatory mite shot there, thanks Cannawhatsis. I'm in the Pac NW and started with Marwest lanscapers compost and worm castings, with coco coir and other various meals and amendments. Marwest advertises beneficial microbes so maybe I've been paranoid all along. I know microwaving soil is not plan A, I'm just new to, what was it, interiorscaping, and after difficulties previously, I went with overkill this time. My plants don't seem to mind, in fact are quite lush considering my inexperience as a plant care-giver (I'm not doing a medical grow, it just seems like an appropriate term).

I've seen some mycelium in the root zones, but at this point I don't know if they are from root aphids or mycorrhyzae from the granules I've innoculated the roots with. I'll look more into it before taking drastic measures. If it looks like root aphids, I will probably go with botaniguard and neem/ organic pyrethrum. I just couldn't live with using systemic. I will give nematodes a shot if they are reasonably user friendly.

Also, I've been inspired to completely redesign my grow space and buy a large tent for flowering, in lieu of a whole closet, and maybe chuck my big pain-in-the-arse wardrobe for a couple smaller tents on shelving, for vegging, in an effort to keep things more sterile. I'll have to see how far I can stretch my tax refund. Thanks for your help, everyone.

RA's manifest in the plants health as a deficiency of nutes, They feed on the plants juices by chewing into the roots, limiting the roots ability to feed the plant. So if your girls are happy and lush green, your probably just paranoid, sorry if we may have added to that. :tiphat:

The interwebs are your friend here, do some research. There's lots of threads even just on this site to read up on, and lots of random gardening experience that Google will pull up ;)

BTW, I'm in Fox Farm Ocean Forest from the hydro store, and don't recycle my soil. I add my leftover soil to my compost and amend the clay in my garden with the results!

Nother couple years and my vege garden should kick serious ass!!!!!! :dance013:

Can you tell us what's IN Mighty Wash? I've read plenty of people using it to good success, but the most information I can get from them or searching on it is that it's "frequency" water. This is voo doo, and at this point I'm sure there's poison of some sort in it, but who the hell knows exactly what it is?

Is it at least NOP-approved? OMRI?
(Yeah, I know! But we consumers need SOMETHING to go by.)

You should be able to find the MSDS on most of these products, or if not they should be able to supply one.

I have to throw my hat in the ring for Neem oil, when I use it I don't have mites, when I don't, I do.

For those instances I use floramite...the trick is to keep your flower room as CLEAN AS POSSIBLE and move healthy,pest-free plants to it.

Works a charm

Mighty Wash ?? sounds like something to clean bong-water off my carpet..
I feel like some products are way over-priced so people only want to apply them a couple times(not sure about mitey wash haven't heard of that). Anyone looked at mites through a 30x microscope? It's insane..the eggs are like glued onto the leaves. And they're smart since they use the center for shelter..

Mighty wash is supposed to be "Frequency water" where thru some method they've adjusted the resonant frequency of the water in such a way that it disrupts the life cycle of insects.

One of the stories I've heard is that Nicola Tesla pioneered it in the late 1800's early 1900's. However the secret of how he was adjusting the frequency of the water went to his grave.....:dunno:

Stuff smells like Safer Soap and certainly has additives in it that make me think the claim of 99.whatever% pure water is BS!

Does it work?,... by my experience with it and a couple buddy's around me, yes.

Do I trust it to be what it's supposed to be? FUCK NO!

Actually in my case Azamax and I don't know about complete elimination because mites are omnipresent, but I definitely killed enough of them so that they wouldn't damage the plants and so that if you looked you couldn't find one.

I've done this a few times. Moreover, if you aren't lazy and just spray once a week or so in veg prophylactically you won't have a mite problem. I'm lazy so lately I've been checking the my plants, but not spraying unless I notice mites.

Pine

Ok. I went and bought 1L of Neem. It was $60ish. Did I get ripped off here? >.<

At what strength (ml/L) did you mix, and how long can I do this to a plant while it's in flower. Let's say the strain is 8 weeks. Can I do it until week 5 every 3 days?

Thanks to everyone else who chimed in.

Neem stinks to high hell,... I'm sure you've already figured that out.

The oils won't wash off of or be fully absorbed by your plants in such a short period,... so I can only imagine what it would taste like when smoked if applied late in flower.

Personally, I won't spray ANYTHING on plants later than 3 weeks in regardless of how long the strain runs, however, I will spray Neem up to the 2nd week of flower or until the plants are showing fingernail sized bud formations.

Neem does become systemic in the plant, so applied in Vege on a weekly basis it will protect your plants for several weeks after flipping to flower. Even if you don't apply any at all in flower.

Like Luv U said, Keep Flower as clean as possible and only flip clean pest free plants!
