"And in this corner, weighing in at 600 lbs...........out of Stone Mountain Georgia..........JERRY BLLLLLLLLACKWELL!!!!"

"BOOOOOOOOOOO!" -the crowd

I was like 7 years old and thought this was the greatest thing on the planet until my mother, while ironing clothes one sunday morning said to me, "I cant believe youre falling for this crap. If that 600 lb. man jumped off the top rope and knee'd that other guy in the throat, that guy would be dead".

Right then my entire world came crashing down, and I realized that Life Is Shit.

Thanks Ma.

^ .... right on .... i remember when King Kong Bundy was the big man in the ring....i alway's figured something was up when he would slam there ass & they got back up....yea right :)

I remember this segment of Piper's pit where Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was the guest. Rowdy was giving him a bunch of shit, then all of a sudden started smashing pineapples and what not over his head. I couldn't have been 6 years old, but I clearly remember thinking that was a bit fucked up. Another Piper's pit I remember was after he beat Paul "Mr. Wonderful" Orndorph. He was like making fun of Paul but it was directed towards his child. He was talking shit about crocodile tears and drinking bath water as I recall. Once again, fuct up shit on Pipers Pit.

I think my favorite wrestler was Baron VonRasche. Fear the claw!

I met Piper in a grocery store. I was thrilled to meet him, shook his hand and said I was a big fan. He looked at me like I was an idiot. Not sure if he thought I was fucking with him or he was just miserable as a wrestler.

I met Jay Youngblood in a bar. Won a $20 bet that it was Jay (he was so short.) I knew it was him because his shoulders were so wide. Real nice guy. He died a couple of months later in Australia from a heart punch.

Seeing OX Baker get his arm broke. Watching George "The Animal" Steel tear apart the turnbuckles with his teeth. Watching Mr Wrestling #2 prefect his running knee lift.
Most memorial memory at a wrestling match? Taking a very beautiful young blonde haired girl to the Embassy Hotel on Broad Street for the night after a match at the old Bell Auditorium. Talk about some moves.....
Forgot about seeing Abdullah The Butcher, Dusty Rhodes, Captain Lou Albano, The Fabulous Moolah, and Gorgeous George. Good old days.

My biggest highlight was going to Maple leaf gardens and seeing it live as a kid- Tunney's Maple leaf wrestling TV show with Billy "Red" Lyons was always on at our house-maybe because I was a kid but it seemed much more real then.

Seeing Abdullah the Butcher take a screwdriver to Rick Flair on Jim Crocketts Mid West TV show (loved Crocketts stable back then-Greg "The Hammer" Valentine-Ric Flair- Jimmy "The Superfly" Snuka- Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat - Wahoo McDaniels- Abdullah "The Butcher"- Dick "The Bruiser" and "The Crusher"

Old school cage matches were always great but I cannot remember any specific matches-more the type IE Texas death match/leather strap match etc

The whole Mr.T/Albano/Cindy Lauper thing was awesome

I was at the PPV for WrestleMania 1 - at the concert theatre here - myself and about 5 of my buddies. We used to watch every Saturday, get high as kites, and really got into it...

We stood and saluted / sang for the "Russian National Anthem" as sung by Nikolai Volkoff, and got booed and had stuff thrown at us.

It was awesome - we were BAKED...

This:

- Rowdy Roddy Piper's antics

- Jimmy The Superfly Snuka leaping off the turnbuckle as if it were the Winter Olympics ski jump

and...

-Hulk Hogan huffing and puffing to prevent from going out from the "sleeper"

-Hacksaw Jim Dugan strutting around in a mankini with his thumb up and Old Glory tacked to a 2x4

-the Undertaker's former manager Paul something? That guys face always made me laugh

-Mr. Perfect coming down the aisle and spitting his gum out forward and hitting it laterally, in stride before entering the ring

WWF = family bonding back in the day.

It was a sad day in my life when I realized that it was fake.
Sad to say but I think pro MMA is beginning to follow suit. Some of the prefight trash talking sounds like a soap opera.

Aw, you guys are gettin' me all teary-eyed!

How many of you remember the wrestling special/'expose" with Geraldo getting the S$%t slapped out of him by the wrestler?!!

I remember living in L.A. right near Exposition and Normandie, 84 or 85-Well, there was a low hum,a whisper maybe, about wrestling being fake. I didn't want to believe it, nor do I think I cared as a teenager-but I was riding on a beach cruiser by USC/Sports Arena, on the handlebars, and I saw , Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, Mr Wonderful, and Iron Shiek-all walking together, in plain clothes, like no big deal. Whu?? I almost fell off the bike, but then in the midst of Jheri Curl juice and smog-it was at that moment, I began to doubt wrestling.

CoCo B Ware didn't help either. LOL

Junkyard Dog was fun.

My affinity for all things Hulk led to THUNDERLIPS being my call sign in the military.

When I heard about Ms Elizabeth passing, I took a pause.
When Andre the Giant passed-I wasn't the only one looking around in disbelief.
Tonga Kid!... and then the Superfly Snuka neck incident?! I was a goner by then...sad.

Mr Perfect
Virgil
Ted DiBiase
Tito Santana!
Big Bossman

I know I am forgetting a few, but together we will name them all! :)

Ahhhhh...bittersweet nostalgia..*sigh* nothing like it!

Stay Classy!

Saw Andre wrestle, then bolted over to the dressing room door and watched him walk by. <2 feet away. He was MASSIVE, my eye was level with his elbow. Bigger than you can imagine.

Two weeks ago i watched Royal Rymble 2012, and man it was uneventful PPV. Don't know much of the new talent and it seemed geared towards a really young audience. No wonder PPV buys and wrestling have gone downhill fast.
