ya, ya, i don't really ask for advice, but i KNOW someone can help me out with this problem....

I air cool 2 rows of 5 lights...

I pull air from under my house and exhaust out the vents on the side on my garage...

the 8" exhaust fans are within 2-3 feet of the vents, going out....

the problem is, no matter how much i tape my hoods, it pulls smell out of my room and it reaks on the side of my house like a motherfucker....

need to figure out how to take care of this BEFORE the pool guy comes back this season...

dont want to use carbon filters, because its not feasible, they would have to be outside the garage...

what are my options here? appreciate and lots of rep to you...

Maybe a scrubber or ozone generator inside of the actual room. If you can cut down on the smell inside the room maybe by the time it reaches outside it won't be so strong?

What kind of hoods are you running? Do you know where the air leaks most likely are on the hoods? (I'm assuming it's not the ducting, but maybe your ducting has some pinholes and needs replacing/upgrading?) If it's the hoods, maybe you could use some of that high-temp silicone to seal up the seams but still let you get to your bulbs. (?)

shoot, that may NOT be a bad idea.....

get a carbon filter and fan, then exhaust straight through the filter, like in closed room systems...

i run 4 different kinds of hoods...

ducting is new, 6 months old...

high temp silicone, not bad!

was thinking if there is an ozone generator that can be placed INSIDE the ducting?

maybe put it at the beginning and it would have 15+ ft of dusting to mix with the smell....

they have ozone generators that are made to be exhausted through, you could add one of these to the ducting just before it gets blown out.

You do need to handle that air in the vent somehow. If you can't scrub it, maybe you can "condition" it. If you could get an ion generator or an airanizer inside the vents....that would be one way.....but possibly you could use physical items such as gels and other aromatic oils that could possible perfume the air or whatever.
Hell, even those smelly bounce dryer sheets packed into that vent would make a difference.

Think about the old school way folks used to hide smoking odors indoors while taking bong hits.....you'd fill a toilet paper tube will bounce dryer sheets....and blow the smoke through that......whatever came out on the other side always smelled like fragrance.

Likewise you may be able to pull the same trick.

Here's an example of something that might also be helpful: darkroom air cleaners.....

These are items that can be used to pull out heavy chemical odors as well as anything else nasty....and since they're rated for medical use....you can bet your bottom dollar they'll give weed odors a run for their money.
Adzorbstar Darkroom Air Cleaner is the one I found the easiest....here's a link to check it out:

Forget wall mounting or mounting on a pedestal.....I betcha if you could put one of these jimmies in the vent anything on the other end would smell appreciably better. :)

Carbon Filter with InlineFan that just recirculates air in your grow space. best way to install is the easiest for recirculating.... stand it upright in a corner, those 6ft tall ones are what you would need for 10 lights.... ozone is more effective in a way, but they are dangerous for plants and humans in my opinion... i know many say it's safe....

you guys rock!!!!

EXACTLY why i posted this....

hope you dont mind i jack your thread for a minute, same issue...different story...

my problem is not related to outside my house but rather inside...to start, i smoke 14g a day or more, all inside my house, then i got my 4 rooms going and each is sealed with a scrubber except the room upstairs, the door is left open to vent the hot air but i do have a bran-new can filter in there scrubbing....but with the combo of my smoking and the breeding room upstairs my house reiks inside...

was wondering what other than ona gel i can use in my general house area to eliminate the smell, or atleast cover it up well enough...any suggestions?

i had asked this on another site a while back and got laughed at and was told to just smoke less...

^^^ seal the breeding area if you can and only smoke in that area with the door closed. Simple....

or smoke in any other sealed room with a carbon filter that works well....

Awhile back I was thinking of building a smoking room in my basement. Whether it be cannabis or cigarette smoke, I was gonna put a carbon filter in the room so whenever someone was in there smoking they could just flip a switch and the room would de-stink itself.

But then I got high...

I think that your odor problem is a result of your hoods having neg air presure, thus sucking in stinky air from any small gaps around the glass.

A simple solution would be to move the fan to the other side of the room and have it suck the air from under the house, but blow through the hoods. May need to put a pre-filter on the "intake" end to handle dust.

This will add a little heat to the room, but should handle your smell problem.

If you get a inline Ozone genny. Do NOT put in inline before your hoods. Do it after the hoods Water comes in contact and it created a sticky nasty gunk in my hoods when i did it few years back.

You could always move the fan so it pushes instead of pulls. Then no air will get pulled in through the cracks. A bit will get pushed out back into the room.

A few years ago an older reletive of mine was worried about her (live in) teen grandson smelling smoke when she toked in her bedroom. To solve the problem I built her a small carbon filter, hooked to a small fart fan, and housed in an old speaker box.

It is still in use today.
