stem coated with strange foam

Hello,

attachment.php

im getting sick by my cuttings doing almost nothing
they not really want to build the roots

situation:
selfmade bubblecloner box, 11 plantsites, 10 L reservoir, 3xairstone@3x100Lh airpumps 24/7
water temp is constant at 21 degree
using tap water, ph around 7,5, ec 0,4, no ph-, no nutes just a bit of canna (root booster with a very lil npk)
light is a cfl 125w 65k with some distance 18/6
root zone is light sealed
temps are 27-20

only some white lil "beginnings" or these kind of coating to see so far, now after the third week
also i cloned pretty succesfull some month before with the same system, that was much faster

any idea whats that at the stem and how i could improve this slowlyness, it seems that cuttings just put in a jar with tap water create the roots earlier then in the bubbling box

hope to hear from you

peace

Can you try taking the picture again with another light source also near it? It looks almost like a bunch of eggs from a larger insect but it's so fuzzy with the light of just that flash.

Try scarifying the end before you put it in the cloner, and SERIOUSLY reduce the intensity of the light you're using. Scarifying.

You don't want it to grow leaves, you want it to grow roots. You don't need much more than 1 or 2 13W CFLs to do this.

stop cutting the stuff off. It is trying to grow roots. I wouldn't however describe root growth as foam. since you cut the stuff off you are using scarification. weird that the initial cut has healed over. mine usually crust up like the end of a cherry stem or a chicken leg bone at the bottom, but I use plugs. also some strain are easier to clone than others.

That's the roots trying to come through. If you used roots excel, try not to get it up too high on the stem
