Interesting , did you run it on the highest setting? I have a can 33 already but the guy at can told me that it might a little to small and to run it on the lowest setting. I went ahead and bought a can 50 to go with it, but I might try and run the 33 with it because it's only a month old.
I'm running a fantech 260 cfm right now with the can 33, but temps are getting a little high for this time of year so I figured I would go with the can max. You all don't think the can 50 filter will be too big?
Does the built-in speed control make the engine hum like regular speed controllers? That's what entices me the most about this fan. I'm fucking sick of that humming noise driving me crazy in my small space.
Ok I see. So you dial down that 400 cfm when you run the 33 right? Because that what I'm trying to figure if I can run 33 with this fan without having to dial it down and still have no smell. I like the fact it has speed control but would rather run it wide open to get that heat out of the room. The 33 is only rated for 200 cfm max. This fan is 334
The max 6 has a built in speed controller - sliding switch.
I ran mine on full speed 334CFM on the Can Filter 33 with no smell issues. They say your not supposed to pull air through the filters too quickly but the Max 6 full speed paired with the can filter 33 gave me no issues. It may be restricting the fan a hair, but no biggie.
Can filters pairings make no sense to me. They actually say you can use a HO 6" on the 33. They say you can use the MAX 14" on a Can 100. Seems like too large of a fan for said filters.. but that is what their website states.
We always go like this
6in low output or max - can 33
6in high output - can 66 or 50
8in high output - can 100
10in max or 12in ho - can 150
I'm using the max 10 on a can 100 now with no issues, but a buddy says he gets odor with the same setup. I'll be upgrading to 150 filter with the max 10 from here on out.
