Forgetting spacing on lights...

Its been a minute since I've done vert, but I'm going back!

Refresh my memory but 3' away from 600w and 4' away from 1000w?

I run barebulb vert scrog with 600's and usually keep a distance of 20 24 inches.

Ok Bro....Gonna haveta elaborate as in spacing from plants or spacing from each light for even distribution/overlap....

Goodta see yas back around....Holler back...

Hey DHF, good to be back.

Spacing from plants to the light in a circle.

I'd be interested in hearing some thoughts on this as well. I am finishing up a crop with some bare bulb verticals / plants in a simple ring around each light.

Had to leave town and was worried about things toppling into the lamps so I built a cage around each lamp (1000w) with rabbit fencing. Well..my cage must not have been large enough in diameter and several close colas leaned into the cage and burnt/vaped areas of the bud...either from being too close to the light or in a few cases from actually laying directly on some hot metal cage.

Next round I'd like to have a cage cylinder I can drop my 1K down into without these issues. Any thoughts on the diameter I should go here to prevent issue?

My current makeshift cage around my bulb is only around 20" diameter..meaning only around a 10" radius from lamp to possible cola. I'd like to know what a safe distance would be so that even if a plant falls into the cage it will not scorch or vape itself.

Curious for 600w units as well.
using decent honeywell fans below each bulb pointed up and large extraction on room.

Sounds like I wanna go pretty big then... like a 3' diameter cage for the 600w and 4' for the 1k....thats a big cage, but cannot rely on being able to get in there and tie things back before things eventually start getting heavy and moving around. I see cats doing these amazing vert grows and stadiums and do not understand how they keep things so well put. I've always got stuff toppling all over the place and causing havoc. I guess not enough preventative tying on my part.

I made a post here the other day about before I dialed my strains with my coco dtw setups that my plants got as close as 6" from the bare bulbs and never scorched nor bleached from the constant slow column of air beneath the bulbs pushing heat and smell out thru the exhaust/scrubber combo`s......

What you`re wantin to know Mr C is the penetration factor to get rid of everything behind where the lights blastin sideways won`t get to and needs chopped out to prevent plant energy from producing flarf instead of donkey dicks and golfballs....

600 watt Eye horti`s penetrate 32-36" and anything beyond that`s to be done away with foliage wise.....1000`s don`t do much better cuz the plants can`t get as close without said scorchin and bleachin , so there yas go...

3 ' usin either 600 watt Eye horti`s or cheap 1000 watters with small muffin fans beneath helping the convection process by pushing the excess radiant heat up an out of the room is key to environmental control , but you know this Bro.....

Just tryin ta help.....

Thank you for the refresher.

Ya, I'm going with 6" cool tubes and can fan max 8" per 2 - 1000's so about 300cfm per bulb + convection. Plus whole room AC'ed, Co2'ed and Dehui'ed. Drain to waste coco, love the stuff. Was thinking of bato buckets, perfect draining and easy to feed.

I guess I'll go about 6' diameter cage, sounds about right.

Good luck with your sealed room Mr C.....Make sure yas keep the cool tubes clean cuz they`ll retard light penetration like a mofo....

Only time I ever tried a reflector was way back when they first came out and I got some cool tubes in an equip pkg deal .......and....they cost a solid 1 lb difference from the same setups with bare bulbs.......

Used em for target practice , hung my bulbs and things went back ta normal....

I always used the 600`s....Hope the 1K`s `ll be good to yas....

Take care....DHF.....:ying:.....

My 600W bare bulb has an 18" diameter screen, as long as the fan blowing on it keeps it cool, which is not difficult
