Off grid / Diesel generator question

hey fella's, had a few questions on an off the grid deisel generator grow.

Im looking to run 8-12k, two seperate rooms so that generator is always running, and harvests will be somewhat perpetual.

I plan on running the 8-12k for lights only, the ventilation, fans, etc will be on the grid electric.

The foundation is already being dug, plenty of room for what im after 40x20. This will be underground stealth style. Outside of cabin, not worried at all about constant kero deliveries.

Ive seen a few older threads on generators, im wondering if anyone knows of an up to date diesel generator that will last a couple years/ reliable. Ive seen 10k diesel generators going for 5k or so, but im going to assume those arent heavy-duty, well built units.

Ive been waiting for years to get something like this going... I would love to simply go on the grid and spend the money on a garage over the foundation and say im running a business, but this location is too far out in the boonies to be a legit business, it just wouldnt look right.

If anyone has any reccomendations ide love the help, either post in this thread or shoot me a PM.

Also if anyone can estimate an inital cost for the setup.

based out of Bangor. get ready to spend a lot of money on diesel fuel and you're gonna need a 200-300 gallon sub-base fuel tank to feed the sucker. You're lookin at around 20-30 gallons a day if you run 10k 24/7.. also you're gonna have to do basic maintenance on it every 10-20 days if running 24/7

look for generators that are labeled continuous duty. usually run at 1800 rpms. anything 3 to 4 or even 6 cyclinders- water cooled is better. think mitsubishi, mqpower super silent or even better if u have the cheddar,mq power crawford studio versions. they are top of the line, deutz engines, turbo quiet. i do believe it can be done. plan on 1 gallon or slightly less for 10000 watts and anything over 15 k over 1 gallon per hour. personally id have it on a wheelable base. that way you can hook it up and move it.if it breaks down, hook it up and wheel it to where it need to be fixed. change the oil like clock work. fuel filters air filters and anything else that needs be. it be a dream to do something like this. hope all works out for ya.

Thanks eyes, i will check out those crawford studio versions. I will have to get a spreadsheet going for all the costs of fuel etc, and see where i go with this. I really couldnt afford 1 fcked up crop with the initial cost ide be throwing up for this....but i like to gamble so we will see!

well, yeah i hear ya, one messed up crop and there goes the investment.bugs for that matter can ruin the op as well. it would take a boat load of cheddar to get this off the ground. coordination, space, minimal people involved. running a perpetual sounds great but,in this business, nothing is soild or lasting. think it through carefully.

the genny im talking about is at least 30 or over.... unless u rent it for 2-3k month. you can get a lesser priced genny for say 10000. then theres the fuel. youll need the 20-30 for fuel and genny. that assuming u have all the equipment covered as well as the space bought and paid for or rented. it adds up fast. 50 k and id feel better with breathing room. take the genny and fuel away. and 20to 30k is a good amount of $ to do things on the grid.

i have a cat d60 and a d100 all computer controlled will shut down if they get too hot etc..

i run mine at 70-80%

i use swepco sythetic (same as US uses in hummers when in war) and get my oil tested for contaminates. I change oil every 2 weeks.
