Offgassing From Foam Insulation?

I know the old Hydro-Huts and the NGW tubing had offgassing issues. I'm wondering what other things can cause this, and if foam insulation board, the kind with silver on one side, might be one of them.
I believe also that I read that that spray foam insulation has that issue also.
Anyone have any more info on this?

I stack Dow blue board (cut to 1 x 2 ft sections) to lift pots closer to the light. I never noticed a problem. I guess it depends on the product. Hope you get it worked out.

i've used the dow supertuff r stuff. no smell really.

if it offgasses to any significant degree i haven't noticed any effects on the plants.

when i move my next room will be all osb with insulation on the outside. though i'm sure the resins they use in that still offgas to some degree as well. really not much you can do unless you want to rip your own boards from trees.

even fresh drywall is pretty nasty stuff.

i use the foam style boards to insulate my raised beds from the ground and have never had a problem with it. i wondered about it as well but have seen no issues over the past few years.

Hi there RetroGrow, I´m 99% convinced that styrofoam insulation caused stunned growth and severe chlorosis to the plants in my growroom.
The problems have persisted since I put the room in the basement to use 10 months ago, and are getting better for every day after removing the boards from the adjoining air intake room. Also a carbon filter was mounted on the intake.
It may seem like a long time to react on a simple problem, but offgassing isues only comes to mind when all other possibilities are excluded.
I owe to note that the floor of the intake room was covered wall to wall with 20 cm thick boards to keep my furniture deposits off the damp concrete floor in a 6m2 big lock up. So we are talking cubic meters, the boards came from a nearby building site and were laid out as ground insulation before moulding the foundation to a public school.
That shit is nasty chemestry, but supposedly it gasses off at one point.
