Effort to legalize medical marijuana in Ohio fails to get signatures

"But the two proposals differ in their implementation. The Cannabis Amendment includes no limits on how much marijuana someone could buy, possess or grow, leaving that decision and many others to a commission to be established later."

A commission consistenting of who? " ...To be established later?" Fuck that shit.

A commission consisting of intellectually serious medical doctors and advocates, or a commission of politicians and FDA representatives? It kind of matters...

What stoner in his right mind would get behind a piece of legislation so open-ended? We could be looking at a right to posses 3 grams or something.

If you give these kunts an opportunity to fuck with you they will. They do every time. Every other week us Coloradans or our brothers in CA have to re-write newer, more specific local legislation to stop LEO from fucking with us based on a loophole. There is too much money involved. You have to pass a very specific bill.

I look forward to supporting the constitution-based amendment with specific guidelines pre-determined and agreed upon.

1,000 sigs is all they needed?

Problem is they probably went after young looking people who would happily sign it intending to register to vote before it became an issue.

Gotta get actual registered voters or it doesn't mean a thing.

Ask the old people. They were hippies once! Some of them will be sympathetic! You don't need every person who passes you to sign it. You just need 1,000 good ones. (or whatever.)

That was the failed attempt from August 2011.

This is/they are a new proposal. And I'm reading that they need 385,245 valid signatures. It's quite a hurdle, imo. It's more than twice what we need here in MO.

Take care, man!,

In Colorado it was a mix of advocates and state reps. Mason Tvert and Rob Corry were on that advisory board, and it was "established later". You can't very well establish a commission prior to passing the amendment, can you?

I suspect if it succeeds the "commission" will be similarly formed.

Take care, still ,

Ironic that the time frame of signature gathering is in the dead of winter.

If we could gather petition signatures in the summer it would be a breeze.

Just hang out at put-n-bay or the ledges for a week or two. o_O
