DXHydro Lighting Controller...

Looking into getting a controller from him but I have a quick question. If I go w/ one that has a 30A "plug and go" control it says that you can plug your dryer right into the controller but will only be able to run it when the lights are off... But lets say my dryer pulls 1000W that would be about 4.1A on 240V wouldn't that leave me 25.9A on the 30A circuit? So I don't see why I couldn't easily throw a couple 1000 waters on there @ 240V no problem and still run the washing machine at the same time... A Little confused, hoping for some help :/ anyone have experience with these units?

How you sure that your's dryer only pull 1K !

No Im not sure haha. I'll be honest I just googled what the average wattage of the dryer is and google said between 800-1200W... Why how much do you guys dryers pull? Haha... I might be way off :/

Email DX the question.

He is extremely helpful.

I would email him but my email is currently down :/ I'm only trying to run 2K and I have a 15A circuit already in the room so I'm sure I can run 1K and my fans on the 15A no problem so I just need to try to fit 1K on the same circuit. Only problem is I don't want to have to worry about not using the dryer while the light is on that might be a pain..

So the controller is able to pull around 55Amp. x at 220Volt around 12.000Watts
from a dryer outlet (30Amp.)?Do you rewire your outlet?Or maybe you are not using all the outlet ?Does this panel is intended to work from a dryer outlet?

I have serious doubts that a dryer only pulls 1000w when they require a 30 amp circuit. I would think that he is electrically interlocking the two circuits so that only one can run at a time, but I'm not overly familiar with the equipment that he puts together. The 12k panel below is probably made to run on a range circuit, which is usually 50a.

Not sure but there might also be an initial surge when the dryer starts up that could trip your breaker. (?)

Piece of junk. I wouldn't trust those decora style 240V receptacles, they have no UL/CSA markings, they are some cheap 50 cent receptacles DX purchases from ebay. Find a local electrician and have them build a panel that isn't so cheaply built.

Well you obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Yeah right on DX's website says that all his controllers use top of the line equipment all UL listed...

I can't say that I've ever seen a steel plate cover made for decora style outlets/switches.

Those are UK 230V outlets... might be a standard style there.

Decided to just get a new 30A 240V circuit ran... estimated at 300$ including labor. Does this sound reasonable for the US?

Emerson temp controller and walmart timers, really nice junk. His website is full of bullshit, his dumb flipper says to use cheap form c relays for flips when the ballasts are off, what about the 500V to 600V operating voltage and the 6000V spike, there is dielectric strength in the thin metal strips that are the contacts and arms inside the relay.

Half the price of the Green Air piece of shit I had, and can hold 4k more. Works like a champ.

For 400 bucks this can't be beat. If you can do better, start a website and get to work.

Ask Hammerhead what he thought of DX's wiring....was not very happy about it when he got the unit. If it was him...pretty sure it was.
