I don't really get off on edibles either. However, my wife watched me eat a ton at a party with little effect and then decided to sample a tiny bit herself. A little later she was complaining of hallucinations before vomiting. (She doesn't smoke at all. hehe)

I'm one of the 'tolerant' ones as well. Never had edibles that worked well except my own.
Only differences I did was to make sure it was turned into kief or oil then decarboxylated and heat activated. Approximately 250F for 20 minutes to 'orally' activate it. (350F is too hot)
Had a big bag of kief candy once... a small piece would give regular folks a good buzz. I ate 3 handfuls one day and felt nothing except a bit relaxed. Almost passed out cold and fell over while standing up and looking at my grow.... but never 'felt' anything from it. (I weigh approx 150lbs.... so that was a LOT of kief. LOL)
My canna-pills that are 'good' for me will trash most folks for hours. LOL

I hear you.... I'm an experienced psychonaut though... hardly anything to do with the mind and altered states that I can't handle with ease.
Not saying I'll enjoy it, if/when it happens, but I welcome the experience... for the sake of the experience and the previously missed nuances in life that it will reveal.
I find that most people are too narrow minded to enjoy even their normal, daily, limited experiences....

Had plenty experience with making and taking of the edibles
Key is temperature! Not too low or high!
What I recommend doing is boiling your butter. Basically put in like 2-3 litres of water with around 28 grams of shake, trim or bud and let it simmer for 3 to 6 hours (I shit you not) with like 2-3 sticks of butter. It will smell up your house, but so does any other method.
Then make your cookies and make sure not to bake above 325-350.
So anyways I had these cookies this past summer. They were not as potent as I wanted them to be. I mean I to eat like 4-5 of em to feel anything. So me and my girl decided to keep some for when we where gonna go on vacation, eat them at the airport. So anyway we end up going on a trip with her parents and family. It was an early morning like 4 am at the airport. She had 2 cookies and I ate 5 of them right before we drove to the airport. I also smoked a bowl at around 3 am. So we drive down and get in line to check in. Let me tell you... HOLY CRAP. Me and her start buzzing like crazy! We got that devil eye and we begin swaying side to side. I could hardly stand at that point and felt like I was going to pass out from the incredibly chillin body buzz. LOL. Her parents started looking at us like we were on drugs. Little did they know.
This was the third time I had edibles at an airport and plane. Holy shit everytime its crazy. Think I would learn. Nothing like the feeling of taking off when your cooked!

I mostly do edibles and occaisionally smoke and only have one problem with the edibles is that they tend to build tolerance up quite quickly.
My first cooking methods were to grind up about 1/8 to 1/4 cup of quality trim and put it into a brownie mix. In cooking measurements this is 1 - 2 oz, not by weight.
The first time I decarboxylized by simmering the ground material in 1/4 cup of oil and 1/4 cup of water for 1 hour, the potency increased at least by 4x.
My current method is to infuse 1oz (weight of #1 grade bud) into 454g (2 cups) of Coconut oil by simmering for 1 hour with a little bit of water to keep the temps at 100C/212F.
The ratio is 1/8 oz (wieght) to 1/4 cup cooking oil which makes a brownie mix. I use the called for amount of oil or butter in the recipe and it turns out great.
I'd recommend using oil over butter because butter has a lot of water content and picks up a lot of chlorophyll and other crappy tastes. It's also a pain to separate the water out by freezing.
I like to make a chocolate chip recipe which calls for 3 tbsp of butter. I put 2 tbsp of infused oil and 1 tbsp of real butter for flavour and they turn out great!

I have been giving edibles out, for years, and mine have never had a complaint. They do just what they are meant to......be exactly like an opiate, but without the addiction qualiites!!!! I have never had a complaint....most peeps say they were stronger, than they expected. I have seen my edibles put peeps down, lol....but that is cause they didn't heed my warning....wait an hour for it to hit...don't jump the gun and start eating more, until at least an hour has passed. Those peeps that don't listen, get way fucked up, and I have actually been asked if I put Oxycontin in them!!!!!! I like to smoke, but if I am going for pain control, the only thing that really works for me, is ingestion!!!!!
