Valueline Fans

I'm really disappointed with the 12" valueline fan. I bought one new, have been running it 5 months or so and now its vibrating and squeaking like crazy.

I replaced it with a 12" Max fan.

Now I need to send it in to get repaired/replaced then I'll have a backup or more airflow in the summer.

Should have done it right the first time....oh well.

Bummer dude. But come on, the name of the brand is "valueline", how good could it have been?

Haha, just bein' mean. Its good of you to share your experience as a warning to other growers. I am a HUGE cheapskate when it comes to grow gear. I build my own carbon filters, brew my own organic teas and all that jazz. However the one thing I have come to never cheap out on is ventilation. Its probably the number one thing that will fuck shit up if it fails (for me anyway). Even if I had a lamp die in the middle of the day it wouldn't be too bad. But if my ventilation died and I didn't notice for a few hours my girls would get COOKED.

That 12" Max fan should do you well. I've always been impressed with that line, but they are way too loud for me. Given that you're in the market for a 12" fan that probably isn't an issue for you.

Good luck with the new vent rig and getting your old one fixed!

pretty much everything by CAP has gone to shit quality these days. I had one of these fans crap out after less than 1 yr. Ive also had 2 valueline ballasts quit working after less than 6 months. also has a big power controller from them crap out after less than 1 yr. Returning this stuff is not really convenient at all either. If I ran CAP, I would be on a jet to China to raise hell about the quality of the products coming out of that shit factory.

I have a 4" Valueline fan that's been running 24/7 for 3.5 years now. It pulls hot air from my 400 watt hood and exhausts out the window. Given that it was a cheap fan and it pulls hot air, I really didn't expect it to last for more than a year. So I bought a Elicent 4" fan as a standby until the Valueline crapped out. But that damn Valueline is still going strong! A little noisier, but still usable. I'm pleasantly surprised!

I've had Vortex fans start vibrating after a few months, and a CAN fan vibrate and rattle right out of the box. Those are the "big names" to us too. I stick with Fantech only now.

I've got (3) 6" and (1) 4" valueline all running well over a year. No problems at all.

Im trying to decide between the valueline and the active air from that very site.

How loud is your active air whatsupdoc?

The 6 is like a jet engine. It's sitting on a 24 inch filter, on the floor, with no duct work attached. It's my 'odor control for my odor control' :) which only runs when I need that extra 'umph'.

The 4 is connected to a 12 inch (?) filter, suspended by bungees, with about 5 feet of non-insulated duct. It's about as loud as a box fan on low. Not bad at all for a day-to-day fan.

HTH. Best of luck on your quest.
