I saw a preview the other night for a new show on Nat Gio (I think, was quite buzzed at the time lol) called "American Weed" that's suppose to premere in mid-February.

I hope it shines a more positive light on the cannabis movement than Weed Wars did...

Nat. Geo is a lot better than Discovery in my opinion. All their Drugs Inc. shows show the straight insanity of this war on drugs, by showing all aspects of all drug use. I have good feelings about this. Hopefully it will be a lot better then the Harborside 4 episode commercial. Keep it green people.

waaaahhhhhh....i don't like the way it smells.....waaaaaaahhhhhh...i don't like the way it clings to me.....booo hoooo hoooo....that's a real strong argument you got there lady...

nat geo does do a better job with this stuff and i have a positive vibe about this one as well. i think these shows in general are doing a pretty good job of making the anti pot folks look like assholes. i hope that trend continues. just keep putting the mic in the face of the opposition and they will inevitably contribute to thier own demise....

peace...........

^^^^^ completely agree brother

i dont wanna turn this into a Weed Wars thread, but ill make a comment anyways :blowbubbles: I'm not totally sure why everyone hated it so much, maybe just because it was linked with harborside.. so on the boards it was doomed to fail. But honestly, 85% of the patients that Discovery was highlighting on the show were legitimate medical users with serious disabilities / illnesses. I mean, they could have gone the completely opposite way fellas & just been showing everyone in the state with 'back pain'. So on that hand, i gotta give it to them. Am i happy with everything they showed? With everything those blazeheads over at harborside did on camera? No, but it certainly could have been much much.. much much worse!

big hopes for this new program. funny how things are actually changing, right? i mean.. from just 5 years ago its a whole different world now. cannabis is regularly discussed in the media, clearly more shows are popping up.. people are being educated, wether they know it or not.

perfect example: a couple weeks ago i was back in my home town where i grew up, over at an old buddies parents house. now this is an extremely conservative, republican & god above all else sorta town and family. i walk into the kitchen and what do i see sitting on the table? a hemp body lotion with a huge cannabis leaf as the graphic on the bottle. after a few jokes, this lady then whips out her huge bag of Hemp Seed in the raw or some business. i started busting out laughing, i mean this is universes away from what these ppl woulda ever done back in the day. but now b/c of attention in media and medical states, its less taboo, even for these kinds of ppl.. which must mean there is some inkling of educating going on. i then went on to explain to her that this lotion she uses, and seed she eats every day, cant even be farmed in our country. and hopefully she passes it along to her girlfriends the next time they make themselves a hemp shake & they start discussing how ridiculous it is it can't be produced in the US.

I have watched the first two episodes last 2 nights in a row. The 3rd one is on tonight...

Whilst there were some good bits in there there were also some very laughable pieces also. For example Miss High times refers to other girls as "bong humpers" little does she realise she is in fact also a bong humper.. And fairly clueless i lol'ed when she tried to make a statement about "when this is all legal..." "it will be the big corporations that run it..." she trailed off at the end of that sentence because she couldn't even begin to articulate what she wanted to say. Im fairly sure she was just repeating words she has heard like most other sheep do..

And as for that asshat kid that manages the North Boulder Wellness Center... Putting that clown (albeit nice clown) in charge of your life savings was that ladies first of many big mistakes. I kinda felt bad for her and her husband because they seemed like good people that cared but they were in waaay over their heads imo.

The entrepreneur guy presented well imo but he didn't react very mature when the bill for med research funds gets shot down. Although i can understand his frustration at the ridiculousness of the system he is trying to fight.

Overall i was mocking the show quite alot.. but i still watched it all. Episode 3 is on tonight at 8.30pm i'll have to mysky the hilarity as its clashing with X-Factor and the Mrs will stamp her foot down if i try to pull American Weed on her lol..

But seriously at the very least i guess the show it is educating the average citizen about cannabis. I just wished they produced these shows with better people in their stories..

Just my 2 cents
Peace

:wallbash: Link doesn't work for me - anybody note the air date and time?

For me the first episode was aired on Nat Geo on Monday 30 January @ 8.30pm, with episode 2 on Tuesday 31 Jan @8.30pm. Im in Australasian time zone so the rest of the world should be seeing it pretty much today / yesterday. Lol work that one out!

Don't under estimate the power of reactionary idiots.

Carlin
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0246644/quotes?qt=qt1184050

George Carlin: The FCC, the Federal Communications Commission, decided all by itself that radio and television were the only two parts of American life not protected by the free speech provisions of the first amendment to the Constitution. I'd like to repeat that, because it sounds... *vaguely* important! The FCC, an appointed body, not elected, answerable only to the president, decided on its own that radio and television were the only two parts of American life not protected by the first amendment to the Constitution. Why did they decide that? Because they got a letter from a minister in Mississippi! A Reverend Donald Wildman in Mississippi heard something on the radio that he didn't like. Well, Reverend, did anyone ever tell you there are two KNOBS on the radio? Two. Knobs. On the radio. Of course, I'm sure the reverend isn't that comfortable with anything that has two knobs on it. But hey, reverend, there are two knobs on the radio! One of them turns the radio OFF, and the other one CHANGES THE STATION! Imagine that, reverend, you can actually change the station! It's called freedom of choice, and it's one of the principles this country was founded upon. Look it up in the library, reverend, if you have any of them left when you've finished burning all the books.
