Reaction times while stoned

Duplicate

After smoking a cannabis cigarette today I was thinking about how cannabis affects reaction times. So while we could all sit around the den and share stories about how we once caught a ninja star in our mouth after smoking an oz to the dome I wondered if there was a better way to get an idea of our collective reactions times while we're sober, stoned, or somewhere in between.
That's when I remembered this very simple, short game which could be an objective test in which we might be able to get some numbers and see if there are any trends.

Some of you may have come across this, especially if you've been on the net for years. It's a game where you click a red square and keep it away from four other floating shapes which increase in speed quite rapidly. I think my best time is a little over 20 seconds or something like that (I just did 18.XX just now). Here is a link:

EDIT:
Thanks to foomar who posted this game which is much more simple and will probably get much more accurate results. Though, I don't believe it's as fun, sorry foomar. ;)

What I think would be cool is if people could try these games sober, and then under the influence of cannabis so we can compare scores. Whatever relevant additional info you feel like giving might be cool too.
I could see posts looking something like this:

Example said:
Age(ish): late 20s
Sober
Time since last cannabis consumption: 7 hours
Amount Consumed: none
Score: 5.24

Stoned
Time since last cannabis consumption: 10 minutes
Amount Consumed: .3
Score: 18.32
I know there are probably some great studies regarding this but this is the den and it's mostly in good fun so let's keep it that way. Please. :)
I'm not really stoned or sober, and I'm at work so I can't do a proper example right now but I will as soon as I can.

i catch more fish when stoned. so my reaction times are faster on setting the hook. i will be testing out this again tomorrow. but my reactions are superhuman anyhow LOL i would be interested in tests to measure. i also play video games way better stoned

That ones way too complicated for me.

Simple test like this one measures single event reaction time regardless of mouseing skills.

Get 180 normal , 220 happy and 300 wasted.

Brain seems to work better and faster on good weed sometimes but test shows different.

Pint of beer takes it to 800+.

^ Yes! Thank you! That's awesome!

Dude, that's crazy. When I got all crazy on it I was getting like 215-250. Did one last "Aw fuck it" click, put my other hand in my pants and waited for the green and got a 186. lolwtf

I was always under the impression that marijuana has consistently been shown to slow reaction times. 10 tries averaged 281 on the human benchmark click test. Hour to hour and a half ago smoked a sour diesel joint with some white rhino kief mixed in. Not blown out but definitely feeling it.

Love the idea of collecting data. Especially since schedule 1 status keeps any science from dispelling the idiot stoner perception.

I'll be coming back to test these. Thanks. I remember seeing something similar recently. I'll dig around and share.

IRL when driving along stoned I'm twice as cautious then as when I'm sober, I tend to drive a bit slower stoned and so reaction times & distances are probably better for me when blazed.

My reaction time is pretty good when I'm stoned, however I just don't see the point reacting to anything. Everything is perfectly OK as it is. :)

I thought this question was settled years ago by the large number of VW buses with Deadhead stickers going 40 mph. in the far right lane of the freeway.

Stoned.... or High?

Stoned... I'm a tad slower and I know it. High? I'm sharp as a tack and super quick.... that's why I prefer to be high. Life is quick... it takes an active mind to enjoy everything in it. :D

Stoned is for people who have something they can't/won't deal with or aren't even aware of, pure recreation and some medical purposes.

High is what I do for daily function and medicinal. You'll rarely find me stoned when I have a choice in meds.

Current meds... too much 'stoned'. Average 201ms Will see about updating sober.... doubt I'll be able to post a 'High' score for some time. (pun intended. lol)

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

OK, this is the first time I've been sober at my computer since I've started this thread.

Sober
Age: late 20s
It has been about 12 hours since I last consumed cannabis.

Red Square Game (an average of 5 tries): 13.757 Seconds

Human Benchmark, Red to Green (an average of 5 tries): 217.6

I'll come back and edit after consuming cannabis.

We did a version of this in physics class: mate holds a ruler inside your loose hand (you don't touch it) then lets go, you catch it and measure the distance. Longer distance = slower reactions. I was always slowest in class (still am) even before I was a stoner.
I'm like DeNiro in Awakenings when catching stuff though, even been called a Jedi more than once lol must be down to the difference in the way you concentrate on something when you're expecting it to happen and the more relaxed state when you're not expecting it. Performance anxiety in other words.

Compare your times stoned and drunk and both are slowed but alcohol much worse.

Compare risk takeing on other software and drinkers are vastly more inclined to take risks and overestimate their ability , loss of peritheral vision is more pronounced , a nasty combination if driveing.

With weed , the loss of reaction time is balanced by much less risk takeing than normal , and a better ability to focus on a complex task like driveing , compared to alcohol.

I honestly believed that a pint of beer had no effect on ability and was legal anyway , was shocked to find how bad it really was on a simulator years ago .
