Your race is sacred as your person is sacred. We are not here for division. The problem comes in when people put their own needs above their neighbors. Whatever race the case may be. It really does fall back to the golden rule, do unto others as you would have done unto you. It's obviously silly to think that only one race is capable of being racist. Everyone has prejudices of some sort, the thing is to not let those proclivities become a driving force. Political correctness and equal opportunity have made the pendulum swing way too far in the opposite direction; there is common ground and all men should be treated the same....but sadly that's just not the case.

we need a big list of racist words to laugh at because demonising a word is the dumbest thing in the world,,

its more dumb than persecuting a plant,,

and the same people attack both,,,, ie catholic church/crown type people (bankers/law and media)

being free to laugh and say and grow without restrictions,,, should be simple rights,,

if you mentioned the color of his skin it ain't no big thing as long as you weren't just going to continue on to reveal some stereotypical aspersions in regards to him.

next you should warn your daughter that while crackin' wise on papa may give her her jollies but she better bite her tongue when it comes to challenging other people like her boss or professors, nobody appreciates having to defend what was certainly in your case an innocent adjective, nobody appreciates any racist insinuations, she can take that advice to the bank.

oh, and her insinuation of you being racist doesn't make her sound any less so, I've seen that self-righteous attitude from others before myself.

Again, it's completely natural/innate to gravitate to people that we feel are "like ourselves." Some people like to immerse themselves into alien cultures but that's more the exception rather than the rule.

not every culture contains humanity to its own image

nor does everyone accept base instinctual thoughts as intended potential

its ok to evolve past racism

mankind has put many base behaviors behind him like human sacrifice and cannibalism

time to stop justifying racism

Am I racist? Used to think yes, then used to think I got enlightened, now I don't know what I think. With race or sexual preference or anything else, hey I guess keep it to yourself that's fine but try to rub my nose in it and watch out cuz I ain't putting up with anyone else's BS attitude!

society is racists in general.....

even if you say your not racists, deep down in there, you are to a point....

shit, im racists against my own people, because there fucking stupid....

You should probably just stick to growing instead of removing all doubt.Irony...it's what's for dinner

actually hes right

the easiest way to understand it is to read about he ten worlds

the Buddhist concept of the states of our being

in the most simplest terms we all have the capacity to be animal like or we can choose to be conscious humans who give a fuck

i have found most people who cannot reach the human potential i speak of are afraid to invest in the world around them because they are afraid they will get short changed

well my friends, if you lived your life in regards to the good herb, that is not growing because of the potential of getting in trouble, you wouldn't be here int he first place

so stop being afraid, if you want to be rich in humanity, invest in it with good will as if your pockets are bottomless and you will wake up to find that living like you are wealthy in spirit leads to wealth in spirit

but no matter what you do please don't bitch about the world and do nothing about changing it but being a cynic

to many weak minded pot heads on that bandwagon already

While I do somewhat agree with the premise,we have better communicators...consider it a cumulative opinion,my opinion.

Sometimes people are so absorbed in themselves to not see what's in front of them.Where exactly are my efforts better applied to be as efficient as I can be?

Should I browbeat myself on someone with limited potential? Once again, personal observation only.I do respect your position on the matter even if I consider it slightly touchy feely.

I should probably have prefaced my reaction with the fact I'm an old man who suffers fools lightly.

It so that we won't be racist, kinda like on every application you fill out, you have to indicate you race. (i'm being fesecious)

I always wondered why I had to indicate my race on those things. I seems like if they know what race you are, then they have a clear opportunity to exhibit racism towards whatever race they choose. I just think if they didn't know in the first place, they couldn't call the racism card.

When I note that a person in a story is black, its more of a way to describe the person's tendencies. I'm in the south though, in the northeast or out west its probably different in certain areas. Just because I distinguish between different peoples cultural tendencies doesn't make me a racist.

I hear ya, but my daughter....well you would actually have to meet her to understand. She got suspended from school last year for defending a black girl that was being called names by the scum trash white kids. Yeah I'm white. Anyway...these kids were callin her names and it was reported to the principal....NOTHING happened. Next week the same stuff was going on and my daughter flipped out on them. Long story short.... me and my wife were called into the principals office. Why???? Well it seems as though our daughter actually told the principal that if he would do his fucking job when he was aware of the racial abuse was going on, this issue would NOT be an issue!!! Yeah.....she got 3 days out of school suspension. What was I to do????? We had fun those 3 days,I did not punish her at all. I actually praised her.....but told her not to tell anyone that. Was I wrong???

i think you're both wrong and right. though I think it is good that your daughter is willing to step up for her beliefs...however, if she actually told the principal that he needed to do his f-ing job then she should've been suspended. Had she approached the principal with tact, she may have been able to help remedy the situation without getting suspended.
She ought not be disrespectful to her principal or teachers. The way I see it, she stuck up for someone being picked on or being disrespected and in turn she was disrespectful. Just my two cents. oh yeah, it's a whole lot easier for me to tell you what I think when my kid is much younger....who knows what tomorrow brings and I only hope that my daughter sticks up for her beliefs too.

Very well said. Although I did not agree with the way she spoke to the principal.......I did admire her determination to speak out for a fellow human..It is a tough line....I guess I am happy that my lil girl has turned out the way she has. I try to tell her to choose her battles with caution. If she honestly feels the need to stand up....STAND UP!!:)

defending a person being picked on because of their race is a laudable act.
using race as an adjective when describing a person by using their race is perfectly normal. she is being self-righteous, but she's a kid, all compassion and crusader. i go with s4l's advice.

there's nothing wrong with being passionate about something but there's also the right & wrong way to remedy the situation, she's already lost some credibility in school now; if she wants to fix the racism/bullying thing now she'll have to work doubly hard to be heard and respected by school authorities.

I'm saddened to see I was somewhat correct about her attitude getting her into trouble @ school, I'm glad you didn't punish her as we all know that in her heart she was right all along. My guess is she'll learn soon enough from her mistakes.

I had that passion many years ago, we marched for peace and staged sit-ins, we were processed but never charged and because my voice had to be heard there's surely some sort of govt files floating around with my name and the word 'subversive' tied together somehow.......
