Bad luck or bad mistake?

Hiya!

I have some problems with germinated seeds that wont pop up from my soil...

Last grow i germed 4 super silver haze and 4 mango haze in shot glas of water, all 8 got i nice little tail, so i took them and planted in guanokalong soil. Like 2-3 cm down, tail down. Only 4 got up.

This grow it is 2 aurora indica and 1 jock horror ( nirvana ) same shot glas, same nice tail, same soil, and now 5days later only 1 AI is up and the rest is still down.

What is up with this?

Help a noob, please.

Peace Justin

It might be the soil, I use plain scotts soil for my seedling.

Also I don't bother with the soaking, I just go in to a papertowel
when I see the taproot I put them in to the soil 1/4 in from the paper towel with out touching the seed.
It could be the soil(maybe packing the soil to tight, or the soil could be to hot for the seedlings.

Stay safe and high.
........HYDRO......

I've never heard of a germ method as you just described. But I'm going to assume you've damaged the tail or you need a dose of patience. Here is my germ method.

1) Soak seeds in water for 24 hours or until they sink.

2) plant seeds in non fertilized medium (ammended with earth worm castings is ok)

And that's the jest of it. I would wait a few more days.

I never touch the seed with my fingers.

And i think we can take out tight soil as well.
Maybe maybe to hot soil but i dont think so. Temp is around 26c at top of pot, and a spray the soil light so it wont dry out completly.

So just soak it in water and dont want for the tail?

You think guanokalong all mixed soil is to strong for the seed?

just use LC soiless mix #1

5 parts Canadian Sphagnum Peat or Coir or Pro-Moss
3 parts perlite
2 parts worm castings or mushroom compost or home made compost
Powdered (NOT PELLETED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.

easy as pie, i drop seedlings in cups of that then wet the soil, cover with saran wrap and put light above, wait 3-5 days and enjoy. i get pretty much every seed up and going.

No I don't wait for tail. Well I do but it's a different type of tail:). Soil could be too hot. That is a possibility. There's several. But you've only done 2 things (I'm assuming you didn't fertilize) so the soil is either too hot or you damaged the tail. Or it may just need a couple of days.

Where did you get the seed? I strongly recommend to use only Seed Boutique as they have a strong reputation.

Thanks for the tip but i really like guanokalong all mixed soil, perfect smell and taste of the buds, so i´m gonna stick with that. Looks like im gonna use plain soil for the seeds and the repot to guano.

And i live in Sweden, there is no place where i can buy all the things you wrote, thats another reason why i think i stick to guanokalong mix.

there is either fungus in your soil killing the roots as they come out of the seed, or your environment is too cold/dry. if you pop em in water and they sprout tails they should come up from the soil. the only reason they wouldn't is the environment in the soil is toxic to the shoots. since some came up and some didn't i would think there is something in your soil killing them off. try another mix. like maybe soil less seed starter mix till they get roots then transplant.

i feel your pain as i have just lost 10/12 seeds which i do not have any more of and cannot replace ever. used those jiffy peat puck things, i thought surely these have got to be better than the jiffy pots filled with seed mix which killed 10 seeds i can never replace last week. but no. out of 12 seeds with tails i put into those seed starting pucks only 2 came up and theyre really deformed. its possible it may be your water too. i never considered that. might be something in your water toxic to seedlings.

Hot as in too much nutrients readily available/converted to usable nutrient.

Thanks, i think that must be the problem.

So if i get all you wonderful farmers right this is how i try next run.

*1 Soak seed for 24hours
*2 Plant in plain ( no nutes ) soil.
*3 put under lamp
*4 wait

And than repot to bigger pots with guano all mixed.

Sound good?

Much love Justin
