I have no knowledge of mushrooms or the cultivation of them so I have so ask, is that a magic mushroom? Can you really grow shrooms in the same dirt as your other plants?

those look kinda like the yellow ones I get in my outdoor garden beds periodically. They seem almost prolific at some times of the season. I don't think they are of the magic variety though

Probably not as "shrooms" require much higher levels of humidity than you would want for your growing MJ. Clearly there are mushrooms you can grow in your pots along with your plants though. Whether or not it is worth the effort to try and cultivate edible mushrooms in your pots, I don't know - probably not.

awesome gnome! I have gotten shrooms in my soil few times from Humbolt Myco products.. Never a huge yellow one though

no it's not a pcylicyblin cubensis...just a regular little mushroom,lol nothing wrong with it, totally harmless as long as you don't eat it...magic mushrooms can grow in all sorts of things, thats how they work, in nature they spread billions of spores, and coat EVERYTHING then maybe a fraction of one percent of those land on something with no competing fungus and the right moisture, heat, lighting, and nutes...those randomly make shrooms. it could be just a tiny chunk of soil, a bit of poop, a rotting log, whatever it is, needs to be free of other fungi because they will outgrow the magic mushroom fungus(mycelia) and kill it off, cubensis mycelium is not very strong, most other fungus like the green penicillin on your bread even!

it's quite easy to grow magic mushrooms if you know what you are doing but the main reason they get beds thick with the right kind of shrooms is they buy the spores and go to extreme lengths to ensure that they remain 100% sterile, they use homemade boxes with attached gloves like you see in movies, hepa filters, alcohal and flame, they pressure cook jars of substrate to sterilize them and pasturize horse poop to partially sterilize it. if everything is not 100% contaminant free they will usually die and wont put out a reliable harvest.

You've done some research have you grown shrooms before?
I used to grow them I used to be apart of another site like tis one before I came here but I got bored with growing shrooms so I decided to move forward to the greens

They are a fun time just not an every day use kinda thing
But if you get cluster migraines they are good to keep around

Cubensis mushrooms carry a chemical that makes them bruise blue when touched or broken

That mushroom in the pic above is not psycho active.
one way you can tell if a mushroom is containing pcylicyblin is to break it in half and see if it turns blue....

I also said "if it don't turn blue I WOULDNT eat it UNLESS YOU know for sure its EDIBLE"

so in other words do your research and know your shit before eating anything but thats just common sense right?

I was deep into mycology in general and psychoactive mushrooms in particular.
there are several identifiers or keys used to quickly ID a species of mushroom, things like spore color and shape,
where it is growing(habitat) in dung, soil, out of wood etc etc,
gills and how they attach to the stem, adnate... sinuate?
does it have gills or pores?
does it have an anulus, a viel that stays attached to the stipe as in psilocybe cubensis

staining blue is just one key and unless your very experienced do not eat any mushroom based on only one identifier.
the one i have pic'd growing from soil is probably in the lepiota lutea that will many times grows in soil in potted plants indoors.

I just recently spotted some aminita mucaria on the side of the hiway... the red ones with white spots you see and it was probably the inspiration for lewis carroll's story alice in wonderland.

I ate a mushroom growing in my friends garden, it was tiny, like a 1/4 inch in diameter, and I tripped hard as shit, but I guess we were very lucky to not get regular mushrooms.

I read gnomes post and I only said one identifying trait I figured since people are apart of this site that they would have enough common sense to do more research before trying anything I didnt want to go into great detail over mushrooms especially since this is a weed site not mushroom cultivation 101

I used to grow them I know what to look for I've got hundreds of hours of research from another site wich I can't post the name of cause its against the rules here
And if you read gnomes post he agrees and I quote " staining blue is just one key" I only put on marker he put several...
Pan cyans are wood lovers they grow out of alder wood and other various types of wood cubensis are dung lovers they grow out of shit occasionally you can find them growing in mulch beds
And as for spore color the color can range dark purple to a rusty red (red boy)
The veil does not always stay attached to the stem with golden teacher the veil breaks to drop spores penis envy and penis envy uncut the veil stays attached most of the time
Shrooms can grow any where from a half inch to 18 inches long the amazonians grow large

Panaeolus Cyanescens and Panaeolus Tropicalis grow very small and thin they are wood lovers and they are the most potent of Psychedelic mushrooms
There are also magic mushrooms that grow under ground and they take longer to grow they are called Magic truffles a.k.a. sclerotia or Philosopher Stones

death cap, destroying angel, death angel, angel of death are common names given to certain types of aminitas such as
A. phalloides
A. virosa
A. bisporigera... and others

these are in the same family as the red-white flecked alice in wonderland A. muscaria

they are nearly 100% fatal as symptoms do not show for around 36+ hours after ingestion which by then is too late for anything to be done other than making out a will and choosing your burial spot.
in the late 90s 4 peeps in the carloina's? died from eating deadly death angel aminita's thinking they were musacria.
never eat a mushroom unless you know *for sure* what it is.

Actually, the red-white flecked one is one of the theories of where the santa myth is from.

In the very north of europe, there are people that call themselfs Lappen, the used to cook this shroom in water. They then drank that soup. It was extremly psycho active.

The fun part is that when they got out to pee, there where reindeer waiting for them, those reindeer loved the psycho active effect they got by eating the yellow snow.

When you add up, magic mushrooms, red and white color, thick clothes and flying reindeer, you are pretty close to Santa

Nice to see you got that in there. if you see a mushroom growing from your soil, usually means you have a very balanced well nutrient filled soil medium.

That mushroom is helping your plant, im sure its mycelium network is all throughout that pot, increasing the root zone of the plant in turn.

It doesnt have to be mycrrohizal mushrooms in order to have systemic relationship
with plants.

I grow mushrooms at the base of my outdoor plants every year. ITS WONDERFUL lol
Plants get so fast, and rarely require watering, for the mycelium travels DEEP into the soil where it doesnt dry out, in turn being able to transport water upward to the plant.

Fascinating arent they :-D
