Running a batch of fresh frozen ....

Gonna do a run of fresh frozen nugs in my washing machine. Anyone have any suggestions or advice? I have a 8 bag set, and the nugs are all Blue Dream from my outdoor harvest. Thanks in advance!

yup, every thing's been frozen for a month or so. I know that's kinda long, but it won't happen next time. Any tips on drying or curing fresh material? I've also heard of flash freezing ... looking to get that nice Ice Wax

Hi,

Obviously prefreeze (leave at least for a night in the icebox), use lots of ice and preferably cold water. It would be also a good idea to grind your material well. This should be done before prefreezing in order to minimise resin loss.
I don't know if you heard about it, but some people would even boil gently their stuff in water (+exchanging the water several times) for an hour or so before the whole process. This will get rid of the chlorophyll, sugars and other water soluble components. If properly done, it results in the ultimate quality hash (full melt).

Good luck!

hmmm, this sounds very interesting. What sort of temps do you boil the water with the plant material? I'm assuming you would use the water you exchange in your cold water extraction, or do you discard it? If you could point me in the direction to read more info on that topic, that would be great! Plan on using RO water, and have made all my own ice outta RO water. The whole boiling thing scars me ... it seems like it would be too rough.

I don't quite understand you (maybe because I'm high ;) )

Let me discribe it in details.
The first step is to boil the material gently in water or even keep it in the pot just below the temperature of boiling while stiring delicately. We don't want it to boil rapidly because the bubbles might physically remove the resin glands from the material, although it is not water soluble. This should take about an hour. Remember to exchange the water in which you're boiling the weed. Do it at least three times. The water will be of dark greenish/brown colour (beacuse of the chlorophyll). This is a sort of "water cure" and will get rid of all water soluble components. It will ensure a higher purity of the end product.

After letting the material dry, you grind it, froze and begin your usual ice-o-lator extraction.

I hope this helped :)

Have a nice day!

i wanna see this ICE WAX:jump:

wish i had an outdoor harvest to play with and practice hashing teks
also i thought water cured herb ruins the flavor and smell of the herb, but is smokable. wouldnt this make nasty tasting hash?

Hi midwestHIGHS,

If taste, fragrence or flavour are one of the most important factors of your end product, than water hash is not the best idea. Consider sieving methods.

i've done a pre soak but would be a little nervous about a pre boil.

if jcoltrain is doing a frozen quick wash, isn't boiling, to eliminate chlororphyll, redundant as well?

Well I've seen Rize's vids, and although he shows a little ... there are a lot of tricks he doesn't revile. I think I'm gonna pass on the boiling thing .... but would be interested in any drying or final processing procedures everyone might have .... or it there any website that could be recommended for getting very fine full melt hash's?:thank you:

Also how long do you think I should run the washing machine ... gentle 15mins? Or 3 x 5 min runs?

soooooo did you ever make that ice wax:)

Sorry my friend, got put off til next weekend. Want to give myself a full day, not to rush it ... and got a little too busy last weekend. I'll post a full review on my experience when it's complete. On a side note I made a little rosin with some recently made bubble ... pretty nice. I wonder how fresh frozen rosin would taste??? I'm guessing SUPER DANK:sasmokin:

nice idea on the rosin! I havent made any in about a year and half at least. I would imagine using ice wax to make rosin would yield a perfectly dabbable solvent free oil. :)

If I have a washing machine/Bubblenow I run 6 minutes. If you are totally stylin try 3 minutes. Hand mix I do for 10 minutes. You must mix vigorously enough to make white bubbles in the mix. Make sure you dry it properly. This seems to me to be one of the most common mistakes. Good luck. Peace GS
