Well, thank you! I had made a post, but I took to long and it vanished...I returned to see that...how kind!

I would like to start by saying that primarily, if you want an dramatically noticeable difference in all areas of plant health, add EWC to your base medium. They are magic in many, many ways. I use about 8-12% EWC, but I know some recommend as much as 20% total volume.

Kelp meal = flavor. I love kelp meal.

I noticed a dramatic increase in moisture retention and stem strength with products that have available amounts of silica.

I found a great boost in early veg growth speed with the use of rice flower and alfalfa meal, but this is for different reasons.

I noticed a dramatic increase in soil health when providing food sources to the microherd continually. Additions such as the rice flour and dry molasses contribute essential food sources and allow for greater colonization...which translates to much more vigorous root growth and better nutrient retention, resulting in fertilizer reductions.

I saw a dramatic increase in nutrient retention with the addition of leonardite based products (humic/fulvic) which resulted in further reduction of fertilizer needs.

Saw a better balance of Ca/Mg use by the plant by combining a simple blend of hydrated, pulverized, and granular dolomite limes...

Saw many direct benefits with the addition of Azomite for supplementing some of the various micro mineral needs.

This list could go on for days....honestly...every part of the equation when used in accordance can and will contribute to the success of the whole...that is just the beauty of nature!!

Hope this helps!

Don't skimp on your soil. Get the best soil you can afford.

also the genetics. You need to start with great seeds to get a great plant. You can't start with shitty genetics and expect a great plant.

Oxygen in the root zone! :dance013:

Just getting plenty of O2 down to the roots; that really did it for me. You can get great oxygen levels with all the bubble-heavy hydro methods like Dutch Pots. My favorite way to get air to the roots though is a bubble-bucket-style Bio Box cus I love me some all-organic nuggies

Credit to ICmag user RipVanWeed for the images. Above is his implementation of what I'm talking about. He went for a soil-heavy Organic Bubble Bath Tub made from 5 gallon buckets and hydro grommets+barbs. Not to mention a bigass air-pump smack in the middle. I've taken a lot of inspiration from his clean design.

RipVanWeed likes him some all-organic nuggies too. You can tell cus he snitched some early off the lady on the left! :smokeit:

Added oxygen made an improvement in his buds, big time. Did I mention he was an amateur? These are shots of his second ever grow.

There are definitely a million ways to do it though. Just get dat O2 all up in dem roots!

Cheers everyone!

im upping my pot size for sure, i like the common sense idea of getting great dirt and adding alot of it, space plus nutrition, smart pots sound great as do new nutes but for me its gonna be dirt n pot pize my next go, still learning.

T

Toes.

I've been thinking about this one, and..... I want to change my answer to genetics.

I've grown mediocre plants really well and, well, just got some mediocre finished product.

on the other hand, I've grown some killer genetics, all half-ass and... some how, the end results were, well, killer.
