I've been through the checkpoints many times. If you are in a vehicle you cannot avoid the Border Patrol. They wave everyone through who is white and has Texas license plates on their vehicle.
On the other hand, I am outraged that the Snoopster was hassled for da' weed. Maaaaan. Blew my buzz for the rest of the week.

Checkpoints where ALL cars are stopped or checked-through are Illegal...
In one State I was recently working in, there was an Every-Car Checkpoint set up specifically "to Find Drugs," and subsequently shut down due to the illegality of it..
IMHO, it was originally an attempt and a show where the Sheriffs were trying to humiliate the most Liberal of the Govt Reps
in a County where LEO wanted the MMJ thing shut down..
However, if a Gummint Entity can do it under the Umbrella of **Homeld. Secu'ity** anything goes.... Pretty Pathetic..
We are sliding down the slippery slope on an extreme angle already. Our "Rights" have been legislated away...
We'll see how long life in the You Ess Ay is "Quality" enough to warrant staying here - vs. the uncertainty of living in another Country... Prices in CA on everything are going through the roof... Except one thing, arr-arr.. Doh...!
