I am having a hard time finding a place that sells EWC by the yard. Any advice on how to search for this, or where I can source this? Or maybe more sources on high quality compost. I can get some high quality distal compost for 92$ a yard. (seems like a lot, last season it was 72$)

Bullfrog,

I know you're in Cali.....not sure how far from Sonoma but these folks make compost and vermicompost.

And San Louis Obispo.....

Both of these vendors AFAIK can fill orders by the yard.

i would check into horse manure compost also, i can get my truck bed filled for $20.

the stuff from the stalls is usually composted with sawdust, which adds a nice texture to the compost and keeps it nice and airy. stall manure also has been urinated on by the horses prior to decomposition, giving it more nutrients and it leaves an ammonia smell that will linger in unfinished compost and makes it easy to tell the stuff that you want from the stuff that you dont. mycorrhizae are abundant in horse compost piles as well.

Thanks everybody. I checked out the ones in Sonoma, very nice company's. I live about 1-2 hours from there, but I have a dump truck and could get my entire years load all at once. I will have to check out more later today, thanks for the help everybody.

If I had dump, I'd be hauling in horse manure. You'll be amazed at how fast your worms will go through it and you'll get high quality castings.
I have it spread liberally around the yard covered with grass clippings from down the street to keep it from looking like shit.
For the worms, I let it sit first just as a precaution. I've never had problems, but I hear dewormers may be a problem. I know a lot of people using it with no problems
The stuff is always advertised as composted. It's just piled up to get rid of.
The grass may have herbicides so it doesn't go to edibles. The roses love it as well as the trees. Cilantro is growing up through it as well.
I always say maybe not organic as such. The worms and microbes take over everything and it's a great way of using local waste that can be acquired for free.

if you go to pick it up yourself then you can check the quality too. even if you get it delivered, dont be scared to send it back if it's not what they say it is.
