But it's the plug-in version, named the Fusion Energi by Ford's Department of Redundanci Dept., that can achieve the equivalent of 100 mpg — 8 better than the Chevy Volt, and 13 mpg more than the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid. But Ford disclosed no other details about the plug-in — such as how far it can travel on electricity alone, how big its battery pack will be and just how much it will cost.
Where I live a plug in hybrid would be cool cause I could easily charge the car at my neighbors place off their solar panels. Would never need gas unless I had to leave town.

Solyndra's product price was too high to compete with subsidized manufacturing. Solyndra responded by lowering their price to be competitive and adjusted revenues bankrupted the company.

I read the article. Looks like the jury's still out on whether China is dumping their products to lower global prices. According to other sources, China is dumping, China is also accused of deflating the value of their currency for increased market share.

... The legal question of dumping is for ITC lawyers to determine as they evaluate the merits of a possible case against China. The economics of PV systems costs are for the analysts and the industry supply chain experts to consider.

Granted the article goes on to suggest China isn't dumping, based on statistics. ITC may agree.

Does that not beg more questioning? How they suddenly became not just unprofitable, but insolvent.Huge mistakes were made to not see that coming as if by some new trend.Laughable to attempt a defense.

I for one do not want to subsidize human suffering,China wins that race without any help.I can appreciate the direction, the tact is all wrong no matter the percentage of overall budget...I know the green fiends like to mask 500 mil under that cloak.Lets get into a 'how low can you go's battle at the expense of American taxpayers? No thanks.

Insolvency tends to happen with unprofitable companies. That's why they go bankrupt

Huge mistakes were made to not see that coming as if by some new trend.Laughable to attempt a defense.

Are you aware that the loan was granted by the Bush administration? Approximately 2% of new business survive their 1st year. Solyndra represented ~1% of DOE's fiscal loan budget.

We can give up on green manufacturing or we can invest. I for one would like to see more manufacturing in the US. From the looks of it we may not get into the global, solar panel business.

I doubt the US will ever get back any significant amount of the manufacturing it's lost over the years. My understanding for wind turbines is they require rare earth metals which China basically controls for starters. Forget about solar panel production in the US. Maybe we can somehow harness the hot air coming from all of the wind bag politicians?

That's a good start.:) Beyond that we may need a plethora of solutions. Lawmakers politicizing everything makes it tough to see some issues at face value.

Everything in moderation, the government is a glutton with an endless appetite, never satisfied.I wouldn't put it past these unaccountable lackeys to let shit go south just so they could point the finger.Fuckem all.Shit ain't working.Playing the blame game is about as worthless as Solyndra.

Took a trip to visit a friend and had to take this pic. Where's the frikkin snow? Seems like Anchorage just got it all lol.

Regardless of the 'why' it seems this situation is farked. At least 5 more days of sun and fun coming up!

Two words, due diligence.I know folks who did a better job with a shoestring budget. It was no big secret that other players, much adept and capable were already in the game.It was strictly agenda driven. With no accountability, you'd throw shit at a wall to see what sticks too.We need take our money back.Whether that means budget slashing to accommodate new expenditures in a new to us market. Can't just keep asking for more. Its way beyond feasible the way we currently spend.

Interesting trivia via Pawn Stars: In the 1920s there were over 3000 automobile companies. Only 45 made cars that actually worked.:)

Let's argue about it.

Until it hails fireballs from the sky.

Then let's blame the gays, instead of global warming.

Lot of junk food kids sharing their Fox News/ Republican Party wisdom on this thread:blowbubbles: Some really sophisticated arguments for continuing to allow the multinationals to fuck you and the planet. Gotta grow the economy right? RIGHT? Short term gain, synonymous with long term pain. What you smoking? Ahh I see keeps you locked in front of the tube don't it?

From where I stand you sound like a bunch of overstuffed pigs wallowing in the last days of a culture whose zenith - like the flash of beauty of a trailer park beauty queen - is already long gone.

What? You think the Chinese, Japanese and Indians don't own your ass already??

Yet if I'm compassionate, I really see pawns in a game that continues to support the big boys unceasing greed to fuck the planet, they feed you junk food and television and opiate you, with the trickle down economics mirroring the trickle down flow of intelligence that sees belligerent ignoramuses repeating every war cry, every conspiracy, every Fox News sound byte the puppet masters want you to, without one original thought passing through your angry head. Masturbating in front of videos of drones bombing towel heads, or equivalent video games.

Is any of this filtering in, or have the chemical trails and GM food made that impossible?

You know Kafka said, "there is hope, but not for man."

And when I read the moronic Kentucky Fried diatribes on here, I see exactly what he meant.

Get out in nature plant some trees, do some exercise, eat some vegetables, turn off the television, turn off the computer, go for a walk, read a book, chuck the thickshake in the bin, chuck the burger and fries in the bin, do something for someone other than your self, treat your woman with some respect, say something kind, care for the environment, care for the have nots, watch the sunrise, watch it set, have an original thought, learn to meditate, realise the truth of life, stop being a pawn...
