$3,500 for grow room

EDIT- POST #38 is where I'm at now

I have a $3,500-$4,000 budget for a grow. That's for flower/veg/mother/clone/accessories/electrics(sub panel if need).

want to have min of (4) 600w for flower.
shooting for four lbs total.
^am i over shooting this? In SOG, how man plants could/should I be putting under each 600?
[edit- i'm going with AlexTrebek's advise on taking k33ftr33z's defoliating advise)

aeroflo/ Stinkbud styled aero/nft SOG

1 room for flower, 1 room/large closet for veg/mother/clones.

I'm not sure what light or watts ill need for mothers. 400w mh for veg, 200w flos for clones.
[edit^ going with flos for mothers and clones]
with my budget, probably will not do co2.

Renting a house this month and getting started. Any advise on what to look for when renting?
*better to stay in town or go rural or don't matter? I'm looking into rural. 3-4 bdr so that high electrics will be justified?

recommend any equipment or sites?

can i do this with my budget?

-Edit, this will be my 3rd practical endeavour. i know i can handle it, just need help with infrastructure :)

3-4k is plenty to start up a good grow, just don't get greedy and don't make useless purchases.

There's no problem with rural except that you must not arouse suspicion, so be cool .

Vegging under fluo or HO's will be the best lighting for vegging all your clones.

Going for 28 plants under each bulb is a bit excessive and you'd have plant numbers in the hundreds, but if you want to SOG like this go right ahead.

I personally would shoot for 6 plants per 600 and I'd try keeping plant numbers under either 24 or 18 for your first run, well, since it's gonna the first run, I'd be foolish to put all your eggs in one basket before you know the basket runs smoothly.

Have you decided horizontal or vert?
For a setup like that, vert would be must less costly then horizontal and you would be making it a bit easier for yourself.

Good luck and stay safe in your endeavors!

I changed it to a 60 unit aeroflo, changing it to 15 per light. I looked at other aeroflo grows and have been recommended to lollipop due to denseness.

Gunna go horizontal.

it cost me 1500 to setup a friends barebones 2kw grow with trays, magnetic ballasts, lights, soil, nutes, etc....and a nice little discount from the hydro shop. so you should have no problem going under 3-4k...only problem is we went cheap on everything even the bulbs...

i personally love the new digital dimming ballasts, however if you need to cut costs you might have to get magnetics...

now for my own personal room where i bought everything top of the line from digitals to ushio bulbs to 180 dollar flat reservoirs instead of rubbermaids...easily in my 5kw bedroom grow over 5k...

@pinky, thanks, and there will be a full grow diary :)

@215, thanks for the confidence boost!

I'm looking at 5 options here. 3, 4 and 5 looks good to me but i have never used light mover before. what can be said about these floor plans for maximum benefits?

[EDIT- going with option 2, but wont know 100% until I choose the house]

Option two definetly.

Although if you make a light tunnel (Now's a good time to search Agent-Smith's threads),
You'll be able to do option 4 and get anywhere from ~1gpw pre-dial to ~1.5gpw once dialed,
It's also much easier to cool and involves a fun amount of DIY :)

There's plenty of ways to skin a cat though.

I agree with every part of the bolded statement. When starting in a new room I think its best to make sure the grow room is running smoothly, and thats not even taking into account any potential neighbor problems or unexpected shit that might go down in a new place.
Are you buying an aeroflo or making it using stinks setup as a guide? I wouldnt just throw a shitload of plants in a new aero system without first testing it out and making sure it doesnt have any of its own problems.

I think my set up was bare bones. 4000 watt vert stadium cost me about $3000. I did spend extra money though @250 a piece on 4 electronic ballast, a third of my total expenses.
So $2000 got me two 8" fans, 2 phresh filters, 1 giant roll of panda to make walls/doors, 30 gal brute trash can rez + watering wand + 1200 gph pump, 4 light fixtures, lots and lots of Gorilla tape, lumber to build stadium, about 20 bags of COCO, 4 over priced rip off sun pulse bulbs, nutes, lots of clones.. No meters or anything..
My point: You might need more $$ for separate rooms unless you put in work and buy various discount used equipment off craigslist or what not, have mothers + clones..
Electricity was the biggest expense for me out of the entire grow.. I was $3500 in debt after vegging with 3000 watts for over a month, flowering for two.

I was going for stinks guide considering I can save a bunch of $ that way. The cheapest aeroflo I saw was $700, considering one can be build for much less.

.

I'm putting together a mock-up HTGsupply shopping cart to get an estimate of what i want/can afford. Most likely though, after the cart is put together, I'll look up each individual equipment and find the best prices. I'll post the end result and see what I can add or take off the list.

oh and also, is four 600's with 60 plants enough to get 4LBS? That's kind of my main requirement. But, I'd rather have 3 of top quality then push for 4 @ mids kno what I mean.

Yes, as long as their not crowded. You could do 9 plants in a 3' by 3' covered by a 600w. There's strong evidence on this forum that with an NFT hybrid setup like that and that footprint you'll pull a pound a light.

Learn up a bit on defoliation techniques such as the ones k33ftr33z uses in his tunnel, he has 0% larf even on his bottom branches.

I also suggest you buy all the ballast, sockets and bulbs brand new as these can be your best friend and worst enemy during a grow.
I've seen 5ballast,5sockets/reflectors,5bulbs new in the box go for 1200-1500$. The extra cost now will payback 1st harvest if you can make it on your budget.

Looked at two houses today, 3 more to look at before I decide. I don't think my budget includes housing/utilities :( oh well, gunna be a tough few months. Here's what my price list is looking like so far. Let me know if you think there are things to add/subtract.

Temp/Humidity Controller $155

RO system $160

4' (4) lamp t5 (clones) $150

4' (8) lamp t5 (moms/clones/other) $270

Lumatek 600 watt digi (110v) with
-sun master 600hps
-big kahuna reflector
-$417.95 x 4 = $1,671.80

6'' Tall Boy Carbon Filter
-with prefilter
-$105

Hanna pH Tester $54

Primo TDS Tester $53

6'' growbright hv inline fan x 2 = $202

haven't looked into them much yet but I'll need a water chiller probably. around 350-450 for 1/4hp I've seen, perhaps ill just do the frozen gallon milk jugs I'm not sure.
will most likely need a/c and heater unit. fans, extension cords ect.
so I'm somewhere around $2,830 right now (not including shipping) with a few things still needed. (stuff I can probably get a local hardware stores)
expensiveness.

I might just have to go with (2) 600's for now :(

oh, and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share the website source for the genetics but I'm looking at... in no particular order.

Vanilla Kush
Sweet Island Skunk
Sweetest Cindy 99
Strawberry Cheesecake
The Perps
*The Big (G13 x Butterscotch Hawaiian)
*THC Bomb
Shiva Skunk

If I can afford four lights, I choose 4 strains. If 2 lights, two strains.
So many I want! the * are my first 2 picks. but I really really want to try the Vanilla Kush, the pics and description make my mouth water! GOOD NIGHT. Errr, morning? I just don't know anymore!

[edit- awl crap, I forgot about sub panel and running electrics. geeze, I might need to ask for a bigger budget!]

Also have to throw in your medium and nutes. Those can get quite expensive if you buy the entire line from h&g, advanced, canna, etc.

Might wanna add a rooting nutrient in there along with some type of zyme to clean up all the bad shit. Drip clean will also ensure you don't get salt build up.
