I have a 29g tank with a few plants that are not receiving any nutrients...

Is maxigrow safe for my fish and at what rate should i apply the powder?

Cheers,

I use Maxigrow with iron(liquid) + aquaponics during startup, it was recommended on an Aquaponic forum which was meant for outdoor organic veggies but applied with fish.

(using cococoir inside fabric pots)
I am no expert but I mixed about 1 cap in a gallon(half dose) and poured it directly over each plant.. 5 plants in total with a 20g fishtank. I did it roughly every 3-5 days. I am going to harvest any day now and I must say I am in-fucking-pressed :D... Don't overdose & nitrate tests are your friend. if your just starting I recomend the whole kit so you can track your swings. Best of luck. Oh yea, I am not sure how delicate your fish are but I am using goldies and Pleco

If you were as dedicated to those fish and the plants in that tank as you are to cannabis, you'd have joined some sort of fish tank/coral forum. If you haven't already, I'd recommend you do so and ask that question over there before you kill everything.

I agree with Homebrewer on that, and am curious, how do the plants look? If you have sufficient bioload and light, you shouldn't need to add anything at all.

I might use some Maxibloom if what is needed is iron, mag, K.... i have 2 plecos which keep it SOOO clean, thats why i dont have enough nutes, ive keep this tank going for 10 years everyone so calm down about me not having a clue what to do!

Right now i have the plecos, a handful of guppies, a mother platty, and 4 baby platties.

Ive used many kinds of fishtank nutrients in the past, just lookin to save some money before i move to SanFran this summer, thought i could use the nutes i already have.

Some great advice has been given so far, again its a 29 gal tank, do you think 1tsp of maxibloom would be too much to start with? Should i use maxigrow?

Cheers,
BeL

I second joining the planted tank. theres lots of good info over there. I was going to plant my 135 before it sprung a leak. now I have plastic plants in a bio-cube (bc29).

My 135 when it was a reef.

NO! Do not put it in that tank.

If you want to know that you're talking to an expert, then let me be that expert. I've spent enough years and enough time, WRITTEN enough on the subject matter (my specific expertise isn't in planted tanks, per se, but I know enough I think) in both hardcopy and electronic form to be able to tell you what you should and should not do.

You have livebearers. That means that as soon as they can they're gonna start makin' babies. Next thing you know you'll be wondering if you can sell back the gups and platies back to the fish shop. They won't take them most times unless they're excellent condition, as good as what they buy from the wholesalers.

If you've had this set up for 10 years, then those plecs should be huge, which means the tank is probably already at the apex of its limits in terms of bioload. The balance should already be there and why on earth would you want to do something like dump nutrients into a tank that's well established and running well?

Don't do it.

Umm, unless those plants in your tank are MJ plants then you're on the wrong website.
