Hey all Ic magazine member! I am using a 3ft single bulb t-5 from HD. Heating pad. All vent on dome close. Even tried opening just one vent. T-5 sitting right on top of dome. Room temp is about 60-65 degrees at night. But just can't seem to build a heavy fog on the dome. I even try putting water underneath the root riot tray just to build humidity but it just not there. Any help would be great!

How close is your light to the top of the dome? It may be too far away... And obviously, dont keep opening the dome.

get a mist spray bottle and mist the dome keep both vents closed from day 1-3 then open both half way from 4-6 then all the way 7-8 then off and you should have roots. i use rockwhool but my room mate runs rapid rooters and does it the same way i keep my t5 about 3 inches above my dome. also if you can bring up the temp to around 80 day and 74 night will keep the water evaporating and building up on the dome

You don't need hard light for rooting. Lifting the light will lower heat and evaporate less moisture. It might be more suitable to run the lamp at night or during the coolest temps in the 24-hour cycle.

Not knowing how the cloning is physically taking place, here is how mine are done.

Clones are in an 8 oz styro cups with a 1/8" (bamboo skewer size) hole in the bottom. I fill a tray with these cups and fill inbetween full of rockwool up to the top edge of the cups. The tray drains out of a 1/4" hole in a corner.

Here is where I go different, I water the clones three times per day and completely soak the rockwool. I get so much evaporation off the rockwool I have to gap the cover even in winter with zero percent humidity.

Just covering the tray with a dome holds the moisture. The goal isn't to create a fog. Too much water in a warm dome will lead to problems... Your light also sounds too close !

I let my babies sit in a sealed dome for several days before the need to water the RW cubes or even spray.

Bingo.....................my 4 bulb 2' t-5's are at least 2' above my dome.

Using trays I found adding a heating mat to solve most of my cloning problems, which usually revolved around keeping the humidity up. A double tray set-up with a small amount of water in the bottom 'res' to evap off and keep humidity up the first few crucial days. Then it's just a matter of timing the wet/dry cycle right and hardening them off.

"Room temp is about 60-65 degrees at night".

howdy, this should be 78-80 all the time during rooting. the warmer air will hold more moisture. i run a double t12 shop fixture with 6500k bulbs about 14" above the containers. almost a 100% success rate. i just lost a clone after a 3 yr run.
