Not one problem in two years with my lumateks [4] 600 watt, but then again I don't use the super luman switch just leave on the 600 setting. I never could understand how you can make a 600 watt bulb brighter, I just thought it would decrease the life of the bulb.
Peace,sorry about your luck Krunch!

No problem with my 600w, and I have run it on all the setttings, 300w, 400w, 600w, super lumens with both hps and mh bulbs.

Lumateks seem to do a good job if they arn't smoldering.
I run four and one went the way of electronic toast.
It was under the care of a friend of mine at the time and his dog did chew through part of the cable. He took it back to the growstore, they handed him a brand new 600 and handled the rma for him.

I really buy the lumies for the warranty, and they are so pretty. If you are paying cash at a retailer anyway its really good deal for us custies. If you are ordering shit online in a far of land and having a ballast out for a couple days could hose your op, then it might not be a good choice as there do seem to be many reports of meltdown.

Im going to head on the fearless lumatek path and get some dual 600's.
Cool to hear quantums solid but they don't make any 2x600's.

you have to be very careful on which ballast and lamp combo you choose. Some ballast are very picky.

I've been on the fence about picking up some new digitals. All of my ballasts are magnetic. They've always been reliable(for years), and when I bought them digitals were still expensive and questionable.

I've got a pretty good deal on digital quantums, so maybe I'll pick a few of those up.

I got a killer deal on a Lumatek from a guy I met in a parking lot. It was NIB, I asked him about a warranty, he said it had a full warranty. lol yeah right. It's working great so far, I really dig the dimmable feature. The only downside I've seen compared to my mag's is if there is power fluctuations or outage the damn thing doesn't come back on. It's happened a couple times now.

There's always going to be a few bad apples in the bunch. To say the hole line is garbage is untrue. I have also had fantastic results with Lumatek. If I had any issues with them I would report them but I have not.

Its not supposed to come back on for 20-30 minutes. Its a built in feature in the new Lumateks.

Good!

Good!

never had an issue. sucks that you experienced one so soon.

I know you bought them because of my rec...I wanna hide when I see these threads!

I used 2nd gen 1k and 400w with no issue for over 2 years, failure free. The 1k were even flip / flopped...with the proper delay, of course. There were more disgruntled people then and mine operated issue free

Luck of draw I supose?

I have been running mag ballasts since I started, one of them is 9 years old, 2 have had capacitors replaced.
I got a Phantom, cannot even tell when it is on, even putting my hand on it I cannot tell. But I find the arc flicker too annoying so I won't be getting any more high frequency ballasts.
I do have 3 low frequency GE digitals due the second week of January, I also like Philips CMH better than Sunpulse. Tested both of them just to be sure.

i have 5 of them. not an issue. multiple power outages and they always bounce back. light all of my bulbs, no flicker, nothing. almost zero heat and zero noise. i'd buy more based on my experience.

No way, a problem with Lumatek. Unheard of teehee. Bring on the cheerleaders. Peace GS
I know! Right?

No right-thinking reefkeeper would use a Lumatek. They would, however, use Galaxy or Quantum. I love my ORANGE Quantum. I know for a fact that it can take a drop directly to the ground from over 5' up (it was over my head) and just keeps on working.

Good thing I didn't drop my HydroSun mag coil. D'OH! Probably would have taken off my foot.

my boy that owns a shop in norcal says he gets far more returns on quantum than lumis percentage wise. i personally dont know anyone that ISNT running lumis. out of all the 50 i own ive had two failures and theyve been replaced free no problems. if i could get other ballast as cheap as i can get lumis i would consider trying them tho. mags suck balls they use a lot more electricity and when you have a lot of lights that adds up on the bill.
