1) Credit rating is bullshit anyhow. While some people are completely blown away to learn this, it's true: you can live fantastically well in this country, even start multimillion dollar businesses, without a stupid "credit rating." If what you're having to borrow money for requires a credit rating, then odds are, you shouldn't be borrowing money for that (and probably don't need it) in the first place. And if you're borrowing money for something real, like a house or business loan, what really matters is other factors like how much money you're putting down, work/business history, personal qualities, etc.

2) I laugh in the face of anyone who calls me a pervert, if I haven't committed any crime and some asshole is just trying to fuck me over. Oh, you say I have to register as a sex offender? Well fuck you, no I'm not, and I'll call the newspaper and radio along with my representative to explain exactly why this is bullshit. And guess what??? I will escape unscathed.

3) I don't live my life depending on the charity of others. I don't need anyone to "give" me a job, or a damn thing else. I guess I can see where it would scare some people who are so used on being dependent on others to think they now would "be forced" to nervously squirm and explain to an interviewer about being setup by some hackers. Self-respect is the difference here. It doesn't mean a thing to me if someone chooses not to do business with me because of some rumor they heard. Their loss, not mine.

4) If I'm not scared of the fucking government and power structure which is actively trying to imprison me and my friends for bullshit reasons, then no, some bitch ass kid who gets his rocks off playing off that same system to hurt peoples lives doesn't scare me in the least. Let him come at me in person. They didn't even make it clear what that was all about; it was supposed to be a charity deal but the news didn't report that aspect. Maybe this they will take down Sony's web site. Woo. And yet if you don't have a credit history at all, what does that signify? If you claim the items in your record are not legit, what does that signify? (What if the rest of your record is great except for that?) It doesn't matter near as much as you think.

Oh, and it's downright evil. They boil everything down to a number which they can use to accept or deny someone based on what the computer says, and not what their gut says. It's the ultimate form of passing the buck, and is dangerous because this is the type of thing (basing your actions on some math formula rather than logic) that crashes economies in the long run. This and other reasons are why credit ratings as an institution are so little worthy of respect.

I said credit rating, not credit. Do you think they had Equifax or other credit agencies back in 1776? Or 1876? None of these things existed for the first 150+ years of our country's existence, and the thousands of years of human civilization before that. Yet somehow banks were able to figure out if they could trust someone enough to give them a loan, and were able to succeed and prosper even.
