Let's say you have a room, and someone left all the old plants in there for months and months and there is this dry powdery mold on it (dead, dried plants), and there was previous bug investations of flyers and spider mites.......

Also there is rez with lots of root gunk and crap stuck to them

How would you go about cleaning this room?

I would do something like cut everything down, throw out all soil and dead material....sweep and vaccum everything than disinfect wipedown everything.....and for the trays/rez i would powerwash down and disinfect with a cleaner.....anything else you guys would do?:ying:

A pyrethrin bomb or two.

A fungicide bomb.

Use 10% bleach when washing down all surfaces?

My concern would be in getting the place bombed and then aired out for use. Nothing nasty... try to keep it organic. :D

Tear it down and discard of all that you don't need.
Get it OUTSIDE and spray the crap out of everything with 10% bleach.
Brush the crap out of everything.
Wash with running water.
Hang to dry.
Set up again and spray with 5% bleach, a couple sprays from the fungicide spray, a bit of floor soap or fabric softener (for the smell) and whatever else you fancy.
Spray with water.
Dry well and keep dry for a day or so.

While working with bleach I always wear my "for home" cloths and a face mask.
I'm not sensitive to bleach like some people who can actually get burns from it but the spray can cause me breathing pains for a couple of days after inhaling too much of it.

For extreme disinfections I wear a tyvec suit (doesn't turn white from bleach), gloves, face mask, goggles (bleach can really hurt your eyes at some rate) and crocs footwear.

Along the same lines....

Along the same lines....

Some of you may remember I dropped the dime and set-up a nice grow room for my Step-Son. As it turns out, his laziness got in the way...needless to say, I took over and the plants, which already had a tough start, ended up with PM - what a BUNCH of work...I was chasing my tail. Wont do that again...Anyhow, so I am ready to start up again myself and want to confirm what others have already stated here on cleaning up his mess. If you would, please confirm this is what must be done:

*Pyrethrin bomb
*Fungicide bomb
*wash all walls w a 10% bleach/water solution (I have mylar on all 4 walls and the floor) wash all w bleach?
*My Husband made me a DIY sulphur burner - burn, baby burn
*wipe down all equipment i.e. CO2, lights, fans, watering cans etc etc w bleach solution?

How do I clean the pots?

ok, thanks guys - wish me luck on my own w/out that spoiled ass - lazy mo-fo on this grow, what a waste!

Ten % bleach will take care of anything and everything. That and a sulfur burner will eliminate the need for a fungicide bomb, and the trouble, exposure, and expense. Good luck. -granger

might want to try physan20 at the kill all rate... much less toxic to work with. breathing w bleach tends to be a prob for me... ;-)

Thanks for the re-assurance on cleaning the room up with the bleach, I may have to check on that physan20, don't believe I've heard of that?...........I found out today that the sulfur is 'kind-of' hard to get in CA - ...I'll have to come up w another plan. Picked up some supplies while I was out and about...getting myself one step closer to grow #2 :dance013:

have an awesome weekend!

I would completely remove anything thats not tied down in the rooms. Clean everything with a 10% Bleach solution and I mean everything. Set off an adequate amount of Pyrethrum Total Release Fogger to get into the Areas you could not get to. Air out the area for 12 hrs.. Now your ready to start with healthy clones. Make sure they are pest free from a good source or start from seed..

Thanks for the reply Hammer - for someone like myself who's still 'potty-training' this kind of detail is really helpful. I plan to touch EVERYTHING in my 10x8 room and I agree, a bomb will help to get in places I can't, i.e. behind the mylar.

I was so PISSED off chasing the PM last go around, I ordered some feminized seeds, not knowing if the clones I brought in had the PM or not, I was not willing to roll the dice again in event this is where it all started (even though I did neem the girls). I did read the thread on eagle20 and made that purchase as well...we'll see?!?
