Buying Med Strains - How to Increase Odds of Both Male & Female Seeds?

Hey Guys,

I just had a quick question for you sharp minded thinkers! I don't have much money but given the current economic situation out there I would like to secure myself some strains, that I can also seed out and keep a bag of good seeds on hand so anytime I want to grow them again, without tons of mothers sitting around, I can.

What would be the best way to ensure that for each 10 seeds or 5 seeds I buy, that I can increase my odds in some way to make sure I get both male and female seeds?

The strains I would like to secure are:

Medical Strains
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

1. Blueberry - Mental / Head / Clear
2. White Widow -
3. Kali Mist
4. AK47
5. OG Kush
6. Bubblegum
7. chronic
8. Citral
9. Trainwreck

I have chosen these strains above as they seem to be the most popular and cover the most bases for taking care of medical issues. If you feel that some strains would be better replaced by others, please suggest them and why you would swap them out. Thanks again.

Thanks for any input guys, I really value your feedback!

This is anecdotal, but IMO higher temps during germ/seedling stage = more probability of males.

Example: I had a big batch of F2 seeds. I germed a handful in my garage in February and got all females. Germed about 6 outside in June and got all males.

YMMV

raypack

you want more males and more females...simple, buy more seeds

Yep I've heard all kinds of theories but this is the only one I'll believe.

I would especially advice against 5-packs. Even though you only need one healthy female and one healthy male to make all the seeds you'll ever need, at least twice I've failed to do that with a 5-pack.

Dynagrow published data on how to get more females. Varying environmental conditions and nute solutions gave varying results.

More N than P produced more females. More P than N produced more males.

14/10 produced more females. Longer lights-on intervals produced more males.

Cooler temps produced more females and higher temps produced more males.

The test results are posted here somewhere. You'd have to search the text because dynagrow isn't in the thread title.

You'd probably find it easier if you google dynagrow +more females
