3k Stadium....cooltubes?

I have read a lot of the "master" vert/stadium growers threads and each say cooltubes suck but my issue is the room gets too warm.

room setup: stadium, 8' long, 6.5' wide, 7' tall, 3 shelves each side, 1200 cfm squirrel cage furnace fan (exhaust) with passive intake, 3 1000's bare bulbs, panda cloth top to bottom.

My thought is if it is getting too hot in the room with air exchange around 2x a minute adding A/C would do nothing since I am exhausting it as fast as it is coming in. CORRECT ME if my thought is wrong?

Thanks,

If you're exchanging the room that fast... then you simply need colder air being brought in. Anyway you can make a lung room so that the AC is between your air source and your intake?

dont know what climate you live in but i have run a stadium exactly the same size as yours both ways ( cool tubes and without ) i hated the cool tubes because running them vert the ducting is a pain in the ass. i live where its HOT in the summer 110 plus, i ran a bon aire swamp cooler blasting right at my 3 1000 w bare bulbs and kept temps 86 on the hottest days and well below that on normal days, in winter i just turned off the water supply to the cooler and hooked to my temp controller,

Northern Michigan. Winter for 7-8 months approximately 30-40 degree average temp (outside) and Summer high humidity with 4-6 weeks of 85+ temp's. YES, the cooltubes get in my way. lol.

with those cold temps i cant see it being a problem cooling them . cold outside air coming in, hot exhaust hot air out, you my have to use a good fan to pull it in though, i would recomend a sentinal temp control to plug your fans into so it will keep it perfect.

there is something wrong with your ventilation... no way should a 3k bare-bulb room be getting hot if you are bringing in 1200cfm of cold air. I have cooled bigger stadiums with less.

possibilities:

-you need a bigger intake
-your exhaust fan needs to be replaced
-you need better air circulation in the room (around the bulbs?)
-you are pulling in hot air (nevermind, you said it's 30-40 degrees)
-your thermometer is broken

other than that i'm out of ideas, good luck

Thanks for the insights.

JW.....with that Sentinal unit do you control your fans and A/C at the same time using the same unit?

Schrews...you may be right it may be the intake is to small....its a 12" passive intake and a 12" exhaust. any suggestions? add another 6" intake...? I cannot go higher than 12" ducting, I dont have room on the window box.

yes it will control both but with your low temps outside i really cant imagine you needing to run a a/c now. you can set it with a 5 degree dead pan so it will come on at this say 80 and off at 75, totally adjustable to what temps you want. do what you have to do to get more of that cold air in and that hot air out. ie.. bigger fans or better fans, craigslist is a gold mine for inline fans from failed grow attempts. just bought a can filter and a 8in inline for 100 bucks, they were brand new.

Gentleman...I believe I am going to have to build a free standing internal window box to accommodate more/larger intakes. any design suggestions or threads?

JW....No, its winter. lol. no A/c now.

Do you use vent dampeners? I was thinking that would close off the vents with lights off hopefully keeping the decent temp's at night.

Hmmm I run 3200 watts vertically and have no cooling issues in the summer, no offense but I will NEVER run cool tubes too many lumens lost.

Good luck brah, do what you think is best...I'm really tired and probably not making much sense atm.

If I understand the question right you ask for suggestion designs to cool a room.

I found mist makers can cool the air as long as the room needs high RH values. I designed one intake unit named USIU (ultra sonic intake unit) that has the capacity to cool the air- out to air-in up to 3C. In one of my links below you'll find more info in this.

And I found one very cheap cooling source which I did not experiment with yet. Under the ground below 3 meters the dirt is at a stable temperature of 9 Celcius. If you can harvest that cold to use it inside your room during summer. Use radiators or just alot of copper tubes and a water pump and a fan.

Also to avoid the heat during daytime, we run the day/night scedule inside during night/day. In my experience from where I live (on the ground floor in my properly isolated house) the room out temps rarelly hit the 25C during those times.

MJC.....Merry Ho Ho.....Sorry I`ve missed this 1 cuz the fix is easily solved Bro.....and yeah....

Respect ta Schrews fer troubleshootin and lettin all the X factors come to the forefront as howta acknowledge and fix said problem....

Cooltubes suck and there`s no need for em since 3KW needs max 12000 btu`s cooling for a sealed room , much less 1 that gets proper air exchange twice per minute although I don`t think that`s happenin with yer squirrel cage thingy...not sure....so.....

Dial that room Bro....put 3 small muffin fans under each bare bulb hangin set on low speed.....

Mount as large a wallbanger a/c unit in 1 end of the room equipped with thermostat controls and auto restart in case of power outages.......then.....

Set a wallmount fan at bulb level with the a/c unit below it since cold air falls and heat rises naturally......

Mount yer exhaust fan on opposite end wall at top of room to exhaust ALL heat in the room as it`s pushed by the wall fan toward said exhaust constantly ftw.....

I always used active intakes on speed controllers so they wouldn`t outrun my exhaust /scrubber combo`s and my a/c units rarely kicked on except in deep summer.....

Bobbles is in your area so hit him up in his thread for dialin environment cuz I taught him all I know and he`s taken it several steps further , so don`t be afraid ta ask as he`s always willin ta help....

Take care and Good luck....

yes on the dampeners, belive there 30 bucks at home depot for a 8in

8 inch dampeners??? (SMILE)....I will have to order a couple 12 inchers.

THANKS FOR THE HELP......GENTLEMAN and ladies (dont want to offend).

Will make all said adjustments...THANK YOU ALL.

Internal window box designs??? any specific threads to refer me to?
I have a county mounty living next door who occasionally launches an arrow over the fence and has to walk behind my house, so my particle board window enhancement with multiple vent holes is going to have to go for security reasons alone, and I cannot have multiple 12" vents so I will have to make the internal window box large enough to accommodate.

JW...I like the idea BUT since my central air unit faces the mountys house and is around the corner from the window I am using to vent...not gonna work. I was planning on building a internal window box with twice the area of the window and 12" deep. painted all black inside so it looks like a dark/lights off room. Thats the plan.

Any suggestions are MORE than welcome.
