I am 35, started smoking cigarettes at 13 (talk about a gateway drug) and in my early 20's i sounded like an old man in the morning.
i quit by using ganja substitution, smoked a joint whenever i felt like a cig...even at work, just went out for ciggie break, and took out my pack of pre-rolled.

never smoked cigarettes again, never even tempted. over the years i have met folks who quit the same way. also have known alcoholics who did the same. my grandad quit drinking in '69 after a lifetime of boozing it up...thanks to ganja-substitution. he was like a preacher for the religion of quitting drink with ganja. he was a big wheel at the lodge, more than a few of his masonic brothers got on the program!

anyhoo, thought i would start this thread and see if there are others out there who have had similar experiences in quitting the abuse of a harmful drug using the healing of the nations as their catalyst.

Without a doubt. I quit Tobacco 'Cold Turkey', by smoking Marijuana whenever I got the urge to smoke. After 17 years of 2 Packs a day smoking, Marijuana was the crutch I needed to be able to quit.

Cannabis is great for kicking cocaine, almost a must have to be successful.
You can't take away everything from a person, they will eventually rattle apart and relapse.
But leave them a little weed, and a lot of hardcore addicts are able to kick long term.

It could be for some people only . I quit smoking cigerets with the q.p plan when ever I wanted a cigeret I would smoke a joint instead.By the time you are through with the quarter puond , you can then tough out the cigeret cravings.

I think this is set and setting too

I was introduced to cigs as a way to "get 20% more high" from weed. Of course it only "works" during the early stages to getting used to nicotine.

SO for me quitting cigs was not easier due to cannabis. When everyone in my circle would switch over to cigs, I had to fight to stay off them.

Ha I have never met anyone else in person who did what I did, which was quit cig's by replacing w/ cannabis. I love ic..Anways, In the long run, when I look back on it, I feel like I replaced one substance habit for another.. Granted, Herb is prob not as bad for you as tobacco, and has way more medical benefits than tobacco (which I benefit from).
What has made me have a more positive outlook on the whole situation is that i have also replaced many western med's with cannabis, namely stomach med's and anti-depresents. Also for pain if not too too severe. And that I think is awesome..

Usually cannabis is enough.

But sometimes it isn't.

Tobacco is a sacred herb with immense spiritual and medical qualities. But if abused will cause sickness and even death. Cannabis most definitely helps me treat tobacco with enough respect. In fact incense does too. Maybe it's the beta-carbolytes in smoke.

I have smoked two cigarettes during this enitre year. Rolled them myself from additive free tobacco, thin papers, and used an acetate/carbon filter. Commercial cigarettes are a filthy product I am ashamed to have once been addicted to.

I don't drink at all, but the credit really goes to how horrible that poison is, rather than to how nice cannabis is.

keep in mind that the tobacco from the Marlboro man is tainted with all kinds of crap. Im sure that if you had fresh Tobacco to use it would not be as deadly

Pretty much once I got out of high school I became 'straight edge'. I dont smoke cigs or any tobacco product, minus the occasional blunt. I only drink 2-3 drinks a year maybe. I dont do any other hard drugs or pills I dont even do shrooms or L anymore. I only smoke weed and enjoy coffee.

I credit cannabis for kicking a meth addiction that lasted 10 years. Been smokin the ganja for 35 years but it fell to almost nothing during the time of meth, because anything around was bunk. Hooked up with a grower that knew his job, but was quite expensive, so now I grow my own. Outstanding bud is all it took.

I quit drinking cold turkey 28 years ago. It was simple really. My wife told me that if I didn't stop drinking she was going to seriously kick the snot out of me and then drop me like a safe out of a 3-story window.

I quit smoking with Chantix. Last smoke was on March 12, 2008.

Now I'm a grouchy old man who wants a drink and a smoke. By quitting smoking I can take Tarzan tokes again.

Eat dat' bitches! :thankyou:

I shut down a 2 year coke binge (12 years ago) with cannabis substitution and cigarettes several times. Its funny about the cigarettes though, the times that I restarted cigarettes it almost shut down my weed consumption. Currently lots of weed and tobacco free.
