8th Week.. Buds dont smell

EDIT:

Curing is not the problem solver. I need to find out why..
... the buds smell nice during week 6 of flowering but as they swell, they lose their stickiness and kinda get crispy and lose their smell?

Its happening again!

My Amnesia Lemons are flowering for 8 weeks now, almost ready. But when I hold a bud under my nose, i dont smell a anything but plant matter. Only when I lightly touch the buds, a dank smell sticks to my fingers.

I remember my outdoor from summer. I could smell that dank when I stood next to the plant... (although that ended smelling neutral as well, maybe cuz they dried to quick due to high temps)

Since its colder now, I will be able to extend the drying period. The thing is, they dont even smell at this point. And i'm the kinda guy who likes his buds stinky.
Its a shame cuz the buds LOOK tasty...
Is this normal, and will a proper dry/cure bring out that good smell?

Barney's... Its a cross between the Amnesia Haze and Skunk#1. I had the Amnesia Haze before and it was super dank.

I would really want to know where i failed cuz after I harvest this i already have the next batch going in straight 12/12. So I dont want to do the same mistake.

All in all i been very careful with this grow. I didnt overnute and nothing...

Just out of curiosity, what EC are you feeding them at? Your pics look nice but your leaves are yellow and purple. Those are colors that come out when you're plants are mineral deficient from either unbalanced feedings or feeding too much.

In regards to smell, have you had a 'no smell' issue with other strains that were treated the same? Have you grown these genetics before indoors and had 'no smell' issues? Assuming your environment is acceptable and you're not feeding like a greedy cash-cropper, don't rule out the fact that it could just be the strain.

Oh man I hope the same thing applies to my grow. Any tips on how to dry? Last time I just snapped individual branches and hung them on a line. The kinda dried to quick. Do you u hang the whole plant?

Unfortunately I dont have an EC meter. I grow in pre ferted soil and feed, water, feed, water, feed etc... I started just giving them 1/4 of the recommended dose, then gradually upped them. They cant be over fed. I thought those colors came out due to low night temps (17-18C) and yellow because its maturing?

i had the no smell issue in my first grow using the same cabinet. they were AK48 and SKunk#1. I was hoping a long cure would bring out the smell. Then I concluded that ive let them dry for too long. So i had some excess AK48s on my balcony... They did smell very good during flowering.

So the only difference is the light... can that be a factor?

Anything with Paclobutrazol in it will eliminate most of the smell/flavor.
Gravity
Phosphoload
Flower Dragon

There are others and they don't label their products correctly

That's what I was going to suggest sso.

What's your canopy temp OP?

Some terpenes boil off at really low temps.

Are you sure your just not used to the smell ? Some days I can hardly smell mine...Do you have anyone you can trust to give you a second opinion?

As to terpenes boiling off, I can't imagine that anyones grow would get hot enough for that to happen, but IDKE. Seems like most terseness have a BP >140 dg F.

Other factors could be nutes, might be helpful to tell us what nutes your using, what your feeding schedule is,etc.

As to drying and curing, Ive put grassy smelling buds into jars and after a 30 day cure they emerge from the jars smelling and tasting great. And that is AFTER doing what most would consider sacrilege. Cutting the buds from the main stalk, trimming right away, and drying for "only" 4-5 days on a screen.

higher temps sometimes cause lower smell.

also nearness of the lamp.

Thanks for suggesting that. I also thought about light being a factor...

My temps arent that high, 25 - 26 C avg... I increased the light distance just now to see if it will help.

I'm 100% that I didnt get used to it. And yes I do have other people that can confirm the lack of smell.
When I feed I mix Plagron Bloom, Plagron Green Sensation and Molasses. I feed, water, feed etc... 5 days interval.

My plants don't stink much until they're cured. I grow in a building that's not very air tight, and I have good ventilation, so I figure it's just because all that stank gets blown to the wind. Kind of a shame really.

do that stuff get you off?
if it works right smell is of little concern.
hope you figure it out.

is this a recurring problem?

Yea it does, no doubt. The taste is just so bland that i dont enjoy smoking it... but i def enjoy the after effects!

And yes.. it happened in my first indoor grow as well. This is my 2nd indoor grow, same setup. I also had an outdoor grow before this indoor run... and that outdoor did smell very good during flowering!

I used the same nutes and soil for indoor and outdoor. Light and air is the main difference... Can anyone tell me if light and air is a factor to the development of terpenes?

be careful when you dry this time, not saying that was the problem last time. but this time you will be drying in winter, where even though the temperature is lower, the humidity will be much lower than in the summer. plants dry really fast in winter, you want to dry your plants in 50-55% humidity (a little lower is ok.) winter time humidity can drop to zero.

just throwing a new problem at you. drying is very different from one crop to another unless you can control humidity.
