The less obvious benefits of being a grower

Most everyone is aware of the obvious benefits of being a grower such as the money you save and always having quality weed on hand whenever you want it...well almost always. :)

There are other less obvious benefits though, such as experiences a grower can have that nobody else will ever know. For example most growers trim their buds and if they're smart they save the trim to use later in making canna butter or for hash making. This provides the grower with the unique opportunity of being able to stick their face in a container full of trim and inhale deeply which can be a very interesting experience.

It just happened to me the other day, I was trimming some bud and as usual I was trimming it over a box I use to collect and dry the trim in. The box was pretty full and I'm the kind of guy that likes there to be no leaves whatsoever on my bud so the box was not only full, but full of leaves that were heavily resin coated. Well I had a backache from other chores I had been doing and my wife gave me one of her pain pills (percocet) to deal with it. Well these things make me nod off and I did while trimming and awoke to find myself face first in the box of trim. The smell was incredible and two things occured to me, one being that only a grower would ever truely know and appreciate such an experience and two that perhaps colognes and perfumes based on cannibus might be profitable if they ever legalize weed.

Anyway I though it might be interesting to start a thread about this and see if there are any other less obvious rewards to growing that others have experienced.

potstitutes...

lw

But is that really a benefit that would be limited to growers? I presume you mean women who'll give up sex for weed but if so couldn't somebody who bought weed also score a potstitute?

Toes.

... the other plants in my yard always look great.

I feed them my extra, left-over tea, I have the best looking roses, hydrangeas, camellias, all of it.

As a security conscious grower, having a subterfuge of other plants, cool plants, like Bonsai, rare tropical etc. always gives me an excuse for the extra garden paraphernalia, pH meter, water filter, poop teas on a constant brew...

I have 2 different types of trim. Trim with a decent amount of trichs on it to make CannaButter with and then sugar trim. That's what I use to make budder with. Last run I used 27 grams of sugar and got about 3 grams return with one run and when I did the same with buds I got 4.5 grams bho. So this time I'm gonna use all sugar trim for bho and all decent trim (which there is quite a bit of) for butter. It was nice to have something special (concentrates are a relatively new thing for me, at least with any consistency at all) that doesn't require the use of my buds. Due to a longer than expected veg time, I ran out of bud a month ago, along with a couple good friends and my leftover hash oil that I reduced down from a tincture, these times with little have not been that bad....due to those special benefits for us growers

Someone who buys weed might run into a potstitute in many locals.

However, i'm guessing the connotation in Norcal is a bit different, as everyone has weed and most grow...

Also, just having the calming effect of live greenery around...

I love plants - have a natural green thumb, always had multitudes of legit plants of all types and sizes around. Just tending to a plant, any plant, is a very soothing thing for me...

Having weed plants just magnifies that factor by a few times...

I used to be really anal making sure every morsel of weed I ground up went into my joint, and that any and all leftovers were collected and returned to the jar.

now anything that doesn't make it in the joint I just brush off my lap or the table like crumbs. :D

LOL Not me.

But I DO have a friend who has considered setting up a topless female trim crew in mendocino county.

another benefit is the "barter" ability, in the last year I have bartered for 1) cord of wood 2) De-huey 3) ballast's 4) house cleaning....and a bunch more, my friend just traded 4 units of top fire for a 98 Silverado pickup.

Yeah that's a rather interesting phenomenon observed with many growers. I guess when you have something in abundance that didn't cost you much to have then the loss of a small portion of that is no big deal. I too was rather anal in making sure nothing was wasted when I bought but when I grow I know there will always be more in a short time, if I even run out to begin with. So like you now those crubs that get left behind when rolling a joint, often get swept onto the floor.

Well I wouldn't say that's a benefit limited to growers as you can barter most anything but I get your point and agree with it. Bartering with quality weed does give you a valuable resource that can get quite a bit in trade.

Another benefit that occurs to me is the ability to try weed in different ways. Your average buyer is not likely to make canna edibles or tinctures because it's just too cost prohibitive whereas a good grower could try these things and not bat an eyelash at how much is needed.
